Out of proper context quranic translations have ruined this ummah.

Don't attributing falsehood to God or keep suffering painfully.

God has set up a system in place that responds to thoughts and actions of people for or against each other.

TAUBAH simply means turning to guidance of God and not repeating what led a person or a people into a bad end result. This has nothing at all to do with uttering some words by mouth and keep doing the same. If one will keep doing the same, the same will keep on happening to him or her as a result.

There is no such thing as forgiveness. ISTAGHAAR is about protection not forgiveness when it comes to God and people. God has set up his standard for mankind to live by. If they don't consequences cannot be avoided or escaped or forgiven. You put your hand in fire, it will burn. For a detailed explanation of things about the quran, deen of islam and pakistan see HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

No Doubt Allah is the most Merciful and Forgiving.. but Quran is also declaring the same Allah to be JUST, Punishing and Always Knowing/remembering...
This shows clearly both sides of our creator.. The sweet side for the ones who pleased Him and the furious side for those who angered Him. aint that simple?
But we shouldnt forget that these sweet side facilities can be availed by those who atleast tried.. How can one expect to be forgiven when he/she didnt tried or stayed stubborn on the beliefs they had thinking this is right and everyone else is wrong.. Thats not the way..
We should read and understand Quran by ourselves, read Hadiths to properly understand what Quran has asked us to do and in which ways.. and then expect Allah to forgive our mistakes despite all efforts put forth... Living a life the way we want and then expecting Allah will forgive us.. That's a false hope spread among Muslims to make them lazy and from doing any hardship to find the right way and performing upon it..

May Allah be merciful upon all of us, guide us, give us strength to find and walk upon the right path with consistency, guide our fellow muslims to the right path, keep us safe from Fitnas, give us death upon Islam with belief and forgive our mistakes.. Ameen.

Mughal1 , What’s the point you are making? That Allah forgives?

azeezam ordinary person sb, my point is, people must not adopt make beliefs and harmful and destructive practices and think all will be ok once they utter some words by their mouths. Islam is deen not mazhab ie it is a way of life not a religious mumbo jumbo. Therefore it requires mankind to live by it and get the benefits it promises or avoid living by it and get into all kinds of troubles.

If one wants to go to lahore from rawalpindi he has to get on the right train or one cannot catch just any train and hope one will end up in lahore.

To get on the right train one has to make the needed effort or one will not be able to catch the right train. In other words to believe and practice islam properly, one has to learn it from the quran properly.

We are humans who are born as babies so we cannot know and do each and everything right away therefore we can carry on believing and doing what our family or wider society tells us but ultimately it is our own individual responsibility to look at our beliefs and practices to see how true or right they are if at all or readjust ourselves to what is actually true or right.

regards and all the best.

Mughal1 I have a different understanding though I might be fully wrong.

True, Islam is a religion which requires from us to follow it in all aspects of our life. However, I believe it is a gradual and continuous process as it is not possible to understand and follow all aspects of Islam from the day one is born/matured.

So in this process of learning & improving, we may slip many a times, as we are prone to mistakes. And many times, we get lost in our routine and local priorities which can last for extended time too. In some cases, we may even reach near to a destruction point.

Taubah is an institution which provides a way back to the Almighty Allah. It brings us back so that we can start/restart/resume our way to Allah. And it may take multiple slips and fall backs.

As far as we keep on going back to Almighty Allah and seek repentance, we are not far from Him. And "Indeed Allah loves those who are constantly repentant.” (Holy Qur’an 2:222)

azeezam ordinary person sb, yes we are humans and prone to making mistakes right from the very start. It is the way we learn things and that is why practice helps us to try to be perfect. As for going back to Allah, that is about referring to his guidance constantly. It is because we constantly need his guidance to keep ourselves right as much as our God given abilities and our own mindsets, attitudes and behaviours permits us.
