These are some of the descriptions being attached to a Milton man shot and killed Monday (Sept. 12) during a shooting spree that spanned different municipalities, including Halton.

Shakeel Ashraf, a married father of three and owner of MK Auto Repairs, was killed at his workplace Monday afternoon by a gunman who also wounded two other people during the Milton incident.


"He was so lighthearted and personable," recalled Ibrahim Hindy on Facebook. "What a terrible tragedy."

Arsalan Ahmad Khan said Ashraf was a member of the MSA Qalanders cricket team of the Event Ontario Softball Cricket League, the organization confirmed:

"Let’s come together Miltonians for this very well respected (brother and friend) who left us this afternoon after a very sad and ruthless attack," Anaya Wafa said on Facebook.

Many who knew Ashraf said he was well-known and respected in Milton's South Asian community.

"He had a reputation of being hardworking, friendly and compassionate to his clients and fellow Miltonians," said good friend Hammad Jawaid. "He regularly participated in and sponsored local community events, contributed in causes and will be missed by many in the South Asian community. His loss has left local community in utter disbelief and shock and well wishers have been constantly visiting his family house to pay their respects."

Yes, most of these problems are caused by desi people. Just few days ago, a group of Indian punjabi students here in Canada blocked a police officer's car and harassed him when he issued a traffic violation ticket to one of them. This was unheard of before. They think this is India. Their asses are being deported now.

When we immigrated over here then people used to prefer neighborhoods where there's abundance of people from their own backgrounds. For instance a Pakistani immigrant would be convenient while living in a building where there are lots of Desis/Muslims/Pakistanis. However while getting settled and established they all eventually move out. I had this Indian coworker in my previous workplace who hailed from a well-off family in Rajasthan. As per him he also served in Indian Air Force. Was very polite with me and used to avoid living in neighbourhoods with too many Desis. When I asked him to move to this building in Mississauga then his response was " Sir bottomline ye hay key is desh may hum aaye thay kyunke yeh goroun ka desh hay. Agar yehi sab bakchodi karni thi tau faida kya hya mere idhar aane ka" Point tau tha.

While Conservatives and other (White) right wingers are in favour of stricter immigration policies and are often been divisive , Liberals and NDP are trying to get more and more number of refugees and immigrants just to expand their own respective vote banks in upcoming years. This all leads to stress and mismanagement.

I'm the same. I don't like too many desis around me. Desis bring the standard of everything down, whether it be cleanliness, customer service, or something else. I need to move to a different city now. It's suffocating here now.

Not sure which part of GTA are you living currently but I know a number of people who used to live here in Mississauga. Now they all moved to Ajax, Whitby, Guelph, Milton and Cambridge. Anyways Milton too will get renamed as Multan due to number of Pakistanis living there going up every year ?

Jane and Finch intersection and other areas in North York are strict No No. And I am sure you won't be moving to Indian Punjab aka Brampton ? where property taxes and insurance are too high all thanks to fraudulent claims

The killer was killing people randomly, he was not targeting Pakistani specifically. So, it has nothing to do with Pakistani community. He also killed a police officer on purpose. Secondly, he was African American (black) guy, so he has nothing to do with Desi community. Thirdly I have noticed here that white and black community do not absorb brown or Asian (Chinese) community to them. They don’t mingle and befriend with Desi, Chinese communities. They only wave hands or politely say hello hi but never come to your parties, house. They would never invite you to their parties, house or their circle of friendship.
