Curiosity rover Mars landing

This is a two years mission. A lot of updates and discoveries will be made in next two years. Please post all your updates on here and keep this thread alive for next two years.

Meanwhile in the world of 'real science' not hijacked by the likes of Agha Waqar, the mission of the decade is about to enter into its most critical phase. Landing the Mars rover Curiosity using sky-crane.

Lets hope for the best as mankind ventures forth more boldly to study an alien planet.

A feed including commentary and interviews will be at www.ustream.tv/nasajpl, and an "uninterrupted, clean feed" will be atwww.ustream.tv/nasajpl2, according to NASA.

Two live feeds of video during key landing activities from mission control rooms at JPL will be carried on http://www.ustream.tv between 8:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. PDT on Aug. 5, and between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. PDT on Aug. 6, according to NASA.

[MENTION=8740]awan4ever[/MENTION], yaar you sure this nasa mars rover thing is not a hoax filmed in nevada desert? agha accomplished his feat here on earth in a parking lot And let people ride in his car and nasa is trying to do it on mars where no one can take a ride on the rover and see for themselves if its real. Plus nasa is full of PhDs which makes their claims pretty doubtful - after all these people are big on theory with not much practical knowledge ;)

Some facts.

How far is earth from Mars?
can be anywhere from 36 million miles to over 250 million miles apart

it took 8 months to reach Mars.

If u compare these two matters: 1- To spend billions in order to go to oxygenLESS and manLESS Mars with; 2- To give world the greatest invention of mankind history to run machines on water-kit instead of Petrol that will delete pollution on earth; Invention of Agha Waqar is millions time more valuable than to waste trillions on useless Mar's trips. Billions of people here on earth are poor and are in need of inventions like that Agha has given them. These some theoretical Jahil Ph.D's in Pakistan who are yelling on Agha in TV shows like mad rascals are ignorant and jealous. U will see that when this Kit will start to work in whole Pakistan and then in world, these Jealous idiots will hide their faces from Public.

But these Jealous PH.D have no brain to grasp the truth that Agha has invented totally new method of Electrolysis that runs with Series RLC circuit in RESONANCE in capacitance mode at very high voltage; therefore It uses even less battery than car Radio and can run Car on water only even if u drive it from Karachi to Gilgit.

A Bold truth is, that a few theoretical Scientists and Ph.D’s are Jahil Ignorant who attach this invention with the "Law of Conservation of Energy" These Ph.D's are like that donkey of Noble Quran that is loaded with Books[Quran 62:5**. Agha’s Water-Kit is the greatest invention of mankind history & that invention has no any relation with the law of conservation of energy & Law of thermodynamics. Soon a time will come when these a few Jahil theoretical Ph.Ds who are insulting Agha Waqar in "TV SHOWS", will be hiding their faces from public. Please note that the biggest "Practical Ph.D scientist" of Pakistan A.Q Khan has supported this invention. A Ph.D has good knowledge but he cannot claim that he knows all and his knowledge is complete. COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE IS ONLY with Allah Jalla Aala Aleem-ul-Khabir.

If Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, & King of Inventors Thomas Edison were alive today, they would had travelled to the house of Agha Waqar in Khairpur Sindh Pakistan to salute Agha Waqar. If "Alfred Nobel" of Sweden could come out of his grave today, he could has suggested "Noble Prize Committee" that please change name of "Nobel Prize" to "Agha Waqar Prize". Reader should note that king of inventors EDISON who also invented electrical lamp was so poor that he used to sell Newspapers and used to cultivate vegetables in his house, so to sell them in order to pay expenses of his education.

When Agha Waqar gets a patent for his invention and gets it certified by a proper certification authority then talk about 'truth'.

This scam is not new. Many have done it before, they have driven cars on TV infront of minsters but none of them stepped forward to patent their technology. Everyone tried to get funds from the government or from investors. Therefore most such scammers are in jail today.

This color full-resolution image showing the heat shield of NASA's Curiosity rover was obtained during descent to the surface of Mars on Aug. 5 PDT (Aug. 6 EDT). The image was obtained by the Mars Descent Imager instrument known as MARDI and shows the 15-foot (4.5-meter) diameter heat shield when it was about 50 feet (16 meters) from the spacecraft.

This image shows the inside surface of the heat shield, with its protective multi-layered insulation. The bright patches are calibration targets for MARDI. Also seen in this image is the Mars Science Laboratory Entry, Descent, and Landing Instrument (MEDLI) hardware attached to the inside surface.

At this range, the image has a spatial scale of 0.4 inches (1 cm) per pixel. It is the 36th MARDI image, obtained about three seconds after heat shield separation and about two and one-half minutes before touchdown. The original image from MARDI has been geometrically corrected to look flat. The thumbnail version of this image is available here .
