We have seen so much problems in our election process starting from low level elections such as NA-75 and election of upper house members and now chairman elections.
Our nation is wasting energy and time on useless activities and efforts are useless.
So first reforms shall be election reforms,
1. A stand alone Electronic voting machine should be used for voting.
2. Basis for designing the EVM shall be ID Card for voting.
3. Machine should be capable to read ID Card.
4. Machine should be capable to read and check duplication or repetition. People involved for second appearance for voting shall be punished by 10 years in jail. This sentence should be implemented without ifs and but.
5. A compatible data should be provided by the NADRA for each polling station. Data fed into the EVM shall match with the person ID Card.
6. After scanning ID Card and matching with the data provided by the NADRA, EVM shall authorize voting and persons shall press the button whom he want to vote.
7. A printed ballot should be printed only containing the symbol and name of the candidate and put in the ballot boxes.
8. Machine should count the votes and printed ballots should be used to counter check if required.
So for general public process should be as follows,
Voter >> ID Card checked by Military/Police/Polling agents >> allowed to move to polling officer >> Polling officer applies ink on both thumbs and cancel ID Card from the book >> voter puts ID Card into scanner >> scanner verifies with data from NADRA and checks repetition >> Scanner authorizes or rejects for voting >> voter press the candidate he wants to vote for >> Voter takes the printed ballot and throws it into ballot boxes
Machine should have the function of printing bar code and bar code should be secret or to be decided at the time of polling start time such as first alphabets of polling officer name, polling agent name or any other number.
Also to finish the hatred, elections should be held on party basis in each constituency and without any candidate pre-nominated. After winning, party should have the right to nominate any candidate from constituency. Party should have the right to change its candidate at any time during the five years period to stop any wrong doings such as happened in senate elections.
A strong code of conduct should be issued for parties to follow and to stop hatred.
