Many former Pakistan cricketers doubted that India did not give their best against England.
Refusing to believe in the perception that India deliberately lost to England, hurting Pakistan's semifinal chances, skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed said it's incorrect to cast aspersion on the Virat Kohli-led side.

A lot of former Pakistan cricketers doubted that India did not give their best against England, putting obstacles in their side's road to semifinals.
"No, no, it is not right to say this. I don't think India lost because of us. England played well to win," Sarfaraz told reporters.

Sarfaraz also gave a dressing down to a journalist at the press conference after she used the word 'Bengalis' while asking about the match against Bangladesh.

"Please don't use this word. It could become an issue for you on the social media. I think you should address them as Bangladesh. You are using objectionable word," the Pakistan skipper told the television reporter after she asked why the team management did not give Shoaib Malik a farewell in the match against the "Bengalis".

Safaraz made the right remarks for a couple of reasons.

1. Its not his place to make judgments on other teams, regardless. He doesnt have to politicize himself. Its unbecoming of a sportsman. (And if he had indeed blamed India, our lame media would have abused him for making excuses for their loss.
2. It was Pakistan;s job to keep their fate in their hands..not rely on other teams.

So long as we are talking about ifs and buts, then only if Pakistan had won against the Windies, they would have had to 'rely' on India......, and only if they had beat Afghanistan easily rather than taking it to the last 2 balls, their NRR would have been better.

Don't be stupid. Its the right thing to say and not create undue controversies unbecoming of a sportsman. If he was looking after his job he would have said exactly this that India lost the match on purpose thats why we are out. So its not our fault.

Unfortunately it was not in their hands. Pakistan showed it was a better team than New Zealand and even beat New Zealand when they were unbeaten in the tournament but yet NZ is going ahead and not Pakistan. Why does it have to matter who beat who by how much, its the wins that count. In case of a tie, if the two teams have met before then the winner from that match should progress and/or let them be able to fight it out head to head again to secure a place in the semis.

NRR, DLS and limited reviews should be taken out of the game.

All this 'makes sense' when we lose.
If we had won based on similar grounds, I doubt it we would be complaining. Tab to 'rules rules hotay hain'.

Thing is lot of people saying this not just Pakistanis and no harm in making it more fairer for the next time even if we don't benefit from it.
And I'm not only talking about the NRR, DLS and the limited review system, all of these need to be improved and changed.
