(2) A person, who fabricates or counterfeits a number plate or a screw provided or to be provided by the prescribed authority or the registering authority under section 25, or displays such number plate or screw on motor vehicle shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years but which shall not be less than fifteen days or with fine which may extend to two hundred thousand rupees but which shall not be less than thirty thousand rupees or both.

(3) The offence under subsections (1) and (2) shall be cognizable.]
