Pakistan Owes Its Existance to this Dr. from Mumbai

Dr Jal Ratanji Patel was a highly knowledgeable and a well-decorated Indian physician; he was Jinnah’s friend, and attended to him for his tuberculosis and other health problems. Dr Patel was a professor of pharmacology and therapeutics, and was later the dean at the prestigious Grant Medical College in Bombay.

The other person involved in the ‘secret’ was Patel’s fellow Zoroastrian and radiologist, Dr Jal Daeboo. Both kept the medical files and X-ray films of Jinnah so confidential that neither the intelligence agencies nor the political parties had any knowledge of the illness. Pakistan perhaps owes its existence to the professional ethics of these two gentlemen. The govt. of India awarded Padma Bhushan to Dr. Patel for his professional services in the field of Healthcare Scienes in 1962.

It was much later when Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre were researching for their book Freedom at Midnightduring the early 1970sthat Dr Patel shared the confidential file with them.It was titled “M A Jinnah”; the X-ray film was sealed in an unmarked envelope, as mentioned by Dr Daeboo’s daughter, Homi. Jinnah was virtually under a death sentence while he went about bravely arguing his case for Pakistan at all forums with dignity and honour.

Lapierre would later recall: “One day we showed [Mountbatten] a report of our meeting with the Indian doctor who, in 1947, had treated the founder of Pakistan, Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Reading it made him blanch suddenly. ‘I can’t believe it!’ he gasped. ‘Good God’. When he looked up again, the blue eyes that were usually so calm were shrinking with intense emotion. He swiped the air several times with our sheets of paper. ‘If I had only known all this at the time, the course of history would have been different. I would have delayed the granting of independence for several months. There would have been no Pakistan. Pakistan would not have existed. India would have remained united. Three wars would have been avoided.'” What the Earl didn’t know then was that both countries were well on their way to becoming nuclear powers.

Not a single muslim was a Known Medical Practioner in sub continent during the war of independence.

Fun fact: Mughal Empire GDP was 8 times larger than GDP of UK before they took over. Ottoman Empire was 3-4 times size of UK.

What is so hypocritical here? He studied in England too so according to your logic he was master of hypocrite? What do you mean by taking help? They were doctors and it was simply doctor and patient relationship..such a narrow minded person you are..look if you have problem with Islam and Shariah..simply get lost and live anywhere in the world..no one is asking you to live in Pakistan..but you can’t just dictate your wishes on people living in Pakistan..like extremist maulvees , you libtards are also a menace ..

Jinnah is the most heavily censored person in Pakistan. Even Fatima Jinnah book was censored for being against Ideology of Pakistan. This country is full of irony and hypocracy.

It would have been very hard for him to find a Muslim medical specialist those days. Higher education was not common amongst Muslims of India during that time.

You are absolutely right . Getting medical treatment by a non Muslim does not make him hypocrite. But eating pork, drinking alcohol and never praying can not be explained. I am referring the best book on Quaid-e-Azam life written by Stanley Wolpert, Jinnah of Pakistan. Never praying is from Ashraf Ali Thanvi when he approached him and tried to convince him to start praying.
There is no doubt that Quaid-e-Azam was an extraordinary leader and Pakistan could not have come into existence without his efforts. But he was not a practising Muslim.

One part of Fatima Jinnahs book which was censored but was printed in DAWN was very interesting. Fatina Jinnah wrote that during Quaid-e-Azam's last days Liaquat Ali Khan came to see him . While he was waiting to see him he was laughing his head off during a conversation with someone. When Quaid overhead his laughter he responded, " he is not here to know how I am doing but came to see if I will survive or not".
This kind of statement has to be censored. :-) Don't you think ?

For haqooq-Allah, it will be between him and Allah, you and me are not the one to judge Quaid on this. Look at what he has said about creation of Pakistan..he was laser focused to make it Islamic Republic and numerous speeches of him reflect that.. I always tell my friends that any personal deed that comes under Haqooq Allah is only for Allah and He will pass the final verdict on that.but if there is anything related to Haqooq-Al Ibad..that is strictly between the 2 ppl and even Allah said that he won’t forgive that until the person who was effected forgives ..

My honest suggestion to all Pakistanis, plz stop judging Quaid on how practicing he was..it could be that he may have most intimate and private relation with Allah…so we are no one to judge him on that..

I also wrote Pakistan could not have come into being without his efforts. I also said he was an extraordinary leader. There was a documentary on him which many people have not seen in Pakistan. In this documentary I saw Gandhi's sister saying that if her brother had not been there to fight for the independence of India, India would have still got independence, but if Mr Jinnah had not fought for Pakistan's independence, Pakistan wouldn't have come into being. If the enemy called him a hero then there must be something special about him.

Quaid e Azam is founder of Dawn if I am not wrong. It usually takes a more liberal stand like Jinnah and liberals are demonized in Pakistan.
