It's very easy to understand.

  1. Leverage and Control: When corrupt politicians like Sharifs and Zardaris are compromised by corruption or other indiscretions, they are more susceptible to influence or control. This is beneficial for any power-hungry military establishment as it allows them to exert greater influence over political decisions. By having compromising information, Generals can potentially "twist the arms" of politicians to align with their agendas or policies.
  2. Threat of Exposure: The potential to expose corruption or legal violations provides a significant form of leverage. If a politician does not comply with the military junta's wishes, the threat of judicial actions or public exposure could be used as a tool to enforce compliance. A very recent example of it is Imran Khan where military establishment couldn't find anything against him, hence brought cases over cases against him. With a corrupt poltician, only one or two cases are enough.
  3. Mutual Dependence: Relationships based on mutual benefit and dependence can create a stable but potentially unhealthy political dynamic. Politicians reliant on the military for protection against legal challenges may support military preferences in governance and policy-making, perpetuating a cycle of mutual protection. Entire PDM consist of such politicians.
  4. Barriers to Reform: A politician with a clean record, who campaigns on anti-corruption or reformist platforms, might pose a threat to established practices of corruption, smuggling, etc and power structures, including those within the military. Such politicians are less inclined to maintain the status quo, which lead to tensions if their agenda conflicts with the interests of powerful established groups. That's exactly what we have witnessed in the last 3 years where military establishment have been badly exposed for the first time in our history.
  5. Predictability and Stability: Corrupt politicians, especially those who have been part of the political landscape for a long time, offer a degree of predictability and stability. They are often well-versed in the political games and ploy, making it easier for institutions like the military to anticipate their actions and plan accordingly.
