It could be true, but the popularity is a fluid thing. It never stays the same. Most of the political parties bring their followers close to the election to show their support during the election campaign, one of the reasons is that they want to attract the undecided voters who always go with the momentum.

In Pakistan, it is a bit different. The vote factor has a community influence. The party which has been strong in brotherie system, gain most of the votes by nominating the candidates who are community leaders or have strong influence in their own community.

PPP won the election after the death of BB. It was totally sympathy vote and her husband took the advantage of that vote along with party.

It is bit premature to gauge the real strength of PDM because of the circumstances and their inability to provide relief to the people. Yet, they are obviously trying to gain time to go back to voters in better circumstances. If they are able to bring substantial changes in the economy, able to bring the inflation down and overcome some of the sticky economic issues, they could become formidable force in coming election. Otherwise, PTI will win it easily. The real question is if PTI and IK have any solution? I don't think so. Or at least, I have not seen it yet.

The problems we are facing are such that no single political party can single handedly steer the ship to safety. A collaborate long term approach is required, which unfortunately is lacking at the moment.

True. The other important factor is how to keep the establishment at bay and force them to stay within their defined domain of Constitution. The only way forward with it is if all political parties get together and do not allow themselves to be manipulated. The door to GHQ should be totally shut for them and forbidden.
It is very unfortunate that no political party want apolitical army generals. The army general take advantage of politicians bickering among themselves and enjoy free ride given to them by politicians and all political parties.
