PUNJAB OMBUDSMAN انصاف کا دریا
اشاہ جی کیوں ہنسے تھے
Senior writer Khalid Masood Khan in his column entitled “ شاہ جی کیوں ہنسے تھے ” January 21, 2025 covers a column from a fellow columnist of Lahore praising the Multan police “top gun” for his, claimed, high performance in reducing crime rate. Khalid Masood writes that he can smell that the column was written on “فرمآش ”.
2. Late Ardeshir Cowasjee was not a professional columnist but a shipowner businessman. Every Sunday he wrote a column in a Karachi English daily which was syndicated translated next day in different dailies. His column had always been informative and a source of true revealing unpublished truths that is why everyone worth of his salt waited for his Sunday column including top senior bureaucrats.
3. Ardeshir in one of his column wrote that the then Religious Minister from Mianwali contacted him reminding how honest, efficient and of judicious thinking religious scholar he was. Ardeshir remained silent. Then the religious minister requested Ardeshir to mention in his column his scholarly credentials, good deeds done as religious minister and his judicious thinking about other faiths. The wording of Ardeshir in reply was wonderful exemplary for our today’s anchors, columnists, and talk show participants. Ardeshir refused saying that he was not a “منافق”.
4. Khalid Masood Khan covering up a published column claiming extraordinarily reduction in crime rate in Multan, reminds that on November 14, 2024 the Multan Police, entered the house of a prominent citizen to arrest him. The wanted man was present in the house. The Police team started searching the house and collecting valuables. The man argued that when he was present for arrest why search of the house, to which the police team replied they had orders!!! When the police had gone with collected valuables, the family thought those might not be the dacoits in disguise of the police uniform. The family tried its best to lodge a FIR claimed standing registered but no copy was ever provided to the family under the nose of column named top gun police officer and the record was “sealed”. The family till today is not sure if there in reality existed any registered FIR.
5. There is no shortage of فرمائشی تعریفی وتوصیفی writers, anchors or columnists in our beloved country. We are self sufficient in this commodity. We have inherited Altaf Qureshis in abundance who invented a wonderful “technique” that if there was no escape from making any criticism, keep it low level but be sure same time to equalize praising the personality of the same criticized person.
6. When Panama Leaks shocked the nation, one day Dr. Shahid Masood in his talk show disclosed that he had opened a special new email and requested people to provide any information they might had about corruption. He assured that identification of the informant would be kept confidential. After three four days, Dr. Shahid told his viewers that he vehemently received response. One such name was “Pathan”. He did not know the full name but only single name “Pathan”. He added that he had only single name and did not know who this Pathan was or his other profile detail. It is my belief that he knew the full identity. As is usual routine with Dr. Shahid, he then used the words with Pathan “ معزز قابل احترام انتہای “for the same very Pathan.
7. The crux of the thing was he stopped application of his mind that he was introducing Pathan in relation to corruption story so how could Pathan for such purpose be معزز قابل احترام انتہای.
8. Hardly any week goes by when the nation does not hear mention of 26/11 firing incident in Islamabad and PTI claim about no FIRs.

This old till today has not seen any journalist, writer, columnist, new creature anchor who had judiciously honestly, God fearing conscientious and any shame, for a minute what through his pen on the issue in the recent past he talked about that. Anwar Maqsood, for an example, in an Urdu conference said that late Noor Jehan, in pure Punjabi, complained to him why he could not find anyone else than Malika Pukhraj to spend evening in Lahore. One may not believe same wording are available on Youtube from top advocate Naeem Bukhari addressing the audience who also claimed the same very words late Noor Jehan having said to him.
9. Another تعریفی وتوصیفی columns entitled انصاف کا دریا appeared recently from the senior columnist Mansoor Afaq. The columnist wrote how he had to contact Punjab Ombudsman Helpdesk when not just his FIR was registered but he himself was embarrassed by the number of follow up calls within the next half an hour coming to him. Helpdesk are usually Online or on a Universal Number to be contacted on phone. FIR registered on phone!!!? We all know how hard and difficult it is to get an FIR registered for which so often people had to hire high cost black coats, go to courts even then not in half an hour follow up calls. It will be a feather to know if on instruction of any Ombudsman, federal or any provincial our police had so far saluted by registering an FIR.
10. Mansoor Afaq then, as is usual with our writers terming the Punjab Ombudsman as انصاف کا دریا started detailing inter-alia as to how if someone complained to the Punjab Ombudsman about non availability of “CT Scan or MRI” machine in any hospital, same is purchased and provided immediately.

The same very Mansoor Afaq embarrassed by number of follow up calls after registration of his FIR through Punjab Ombudsman Helpdesk (on phone) after about a month, had to be admitted in a Government Hospital in Lahore. He described what apathic condition of the Ward was which we all know. He writes that to get the kutchra removed from the bedside table, he had to empty his pocket after which the cleaner rather than removing the kutchra, threw that on floor and dusted just the table. The senior writer after about half an hour, left the hospital along with his son without any treatment.
12. As is usual with our writers, he had no honest judicious conscience to use his mobile, contact the انصاف کا دریا Helpdesk when within half an hour not just kutchra would had been removed, rather the whole ward cleaned, his bedsheet replaced, doctors who, according to him were gossiping in retiring room would had rushed to attend him. But he did not opt this surely realizing the empty words of his column انصاف کا دریا.
