جیسنڈا آرڈرن کا کہنا تھا کہ وزیراعظم کا عہدہ سنبھالنا ایک بڑی ذمہ داری تھی، لیکن اب وہ سمجھتی ہیں کہ ان میں وہ انرجی باقی نہیں رہی کہ وزیراعظم کے منصب کے ساتھ انصاف کرسکیں۔

ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ میں ایک انسان ہوں، سیاستدان بھی انسان ہوتے ہیں، جب تک ہم کچھ کرسکتے ہیں تو ہم اپنا سب کچھ دیتے ہیں، پھر ایک ایسا وقت آتا ہے جب آپ کو ان سب سے الگ ہونا پڑتا ہے، میرے لیے یہ ایک بہترین وقت ہے۔​
