Maharaja Ranjit Singh is considered as a controversial or gray figure in history. In India he's highly respected , and considered a great icon among Liberal Punjabis of Pakistan. He reportedly had Muslim soldiers too in his ranks.
But question is how come they had Hindus and Sikhs living in Afghanistan till last few years if Ranjit Singh couldn't go beyond present day Durand Line / Pak-Afghan border?
