Announcement this early in the year by Raheel Sharif that he will not seek extension is not good for security and safety of Pakistan . Enemies of Pakistan in Karachi and tribal areas will get new heart and try to lie low in the period than give up. Politicians whose corruptions is now touching hundreds of billions will again accelerate their activities. Accountability will meet death, future of a prosperous Pakistan will receive a serious setback .
Raheel Sharif was under grave threat , from militants , from religious extremists including Sunni and Shia militants, from Iran , from agencies of world powers plus corrupt politicians and even fellow corrupt generals.
When noose around corrupt PPP politicians started getting tighter and now PMLN and others including those in military business was getting tight , they used newspapers to upset Raheel Sharif by talking about whether he will get extension or not . This was a trap to weaken him.
Unfortunately Raheel Sharif fell in to the trap , his early announcement can repeat history , like Ishaq khan appointed successor to Ambitious Gen Baig six months in advance to neutralize him , Nawaz might do the same.
The efficacy of Raheel sharif as person in control will fall rapidly after this unfortunate and unwise announcement by him , any early appointment of successor will diminish him and struggle for that top post will weaken army itself for atleast a year.
Western forces did not want Raheel to align with Saudia even one bit as they want capture of Mecca and medina by shias to start endless Sunni shia war , they also do not want people like Altaf and Zardari put in jail as then Pakistan might stabilize . They do not want army rule or strong federal government of Pakistan as there is a 1000 year history of Muslims spreading outwards with force once they have a single leader . So They have people like Raza Rabbani , ANP , Baluch separatists, MQM Asma Jahangir and lately even Nawaz himself to propound cause of a weak centre and liberal islam less country.
