Doctors are amazed at quick recovery of PTI chief after injuries in head and spinal cord.
LAHORE (Dunya News/Agencies) - With his discharge to be decided in next few days, Imran Khans doctor is amazed over quick recovery of Khan terming it a miracle.
Imran Khans Doctor, Dr Faisal Sultan while giving briefing to media persons said third rib on left side of Pakistan Tehrik Pakistan chairman is affected a bit. A team of Army doctors have also checked him. Couple of tests would be held for complete diagnostic.
Listing Khans injuries from a CT scan present at the briefing Dr Sultan clarified that Khan did not suffer from a skull fracture as reports in the media suggested.
There was a small scalp hematoma, which is just a collection of blood. There was the spinous process of C3, which was a minimally displaced fracture at the tip of C3 and a compression fracture of T6 (thoracic vertebrae). There is also a fracture of T5 vertebrae body and the spinous process.
However, the most important and reassuring thing is that the spinal canal is intact and Mr Khan is in full control of his limbs and body functions. There was no neurological compromise. He said Khan could address public meetings by telephone however he has to take permission from his doctors in this regard.
Khan can sit at a 45 degrees position and will not need air transport, according to the medical team. The doctor also announced that daily updates regarding Khans health will be given at 2pm (local time) to the press with full disclosure from the doctor directly.
Addressing questions relating to the number of days Khan is expected to stay in the hospital, Dr Sultan said, The exact duration of Khans recovery, bed rest or immobilization will be decided as time goes on and we will keep you updated on it.
The doctor hopes to have a clearer view on the situation after conducting a few more scans and tests in the upcoming days. He said PTI chairman would be kept on complete bed-rest for two to three days.
Chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan, who was injured after falling from a lifter at partys public meeting in Lahore, on Wednesday, was shifted to hospital room from Incentive Care Unit (ICU).
Doctors, treating him, said he was doing well as few medical tests were conducted after breakfast. Doctors said he was given fruits and a cup of tea in breakfast and has been shifted to room after satisfactory condition.
Khans relatives also visited him in room while PTI leaders like Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Omar, Shery Mazari and others also met their party chairman to decide further strategy of the party.
Talking to media on occasion, Qureshi said they would soon hold a press conference in which PTI leadership would announce their next plan. Asad Omar said Khans health was their first priority however they would try to convey message of PTIs chairman to every person of this country.
In a video message, wounded Imran Khan said he is quite well now and felling better.
Khan is under treatment in Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital Lahore. He had sustained head and back injuries. Doctors say that Khan would be fully recovered in a few days.
