It is sad day for journalism. Dawn used to be the premier newspaper of Pakistan. Like all other institutions rot has set in every aspect of our society. From a great newspaper Dawn and its allied publications, it sunk to blackmailing and maligning Defence institutions. We will never ever learn that money alone does not make you capable of every job. Herald gave the impression of a very professional English journal
but when i read the articles, i realized there is a lot of prejudice in its views
it seemed as if East India Company is judging our state, beliefs, and politicians

Herald could never see the corruption of Zardari and Nawaz with the same weight-age it gave to minor opinions of Imran Khan. That made me realize that behind the scenes, it is also sold to brainwash the so called educated class of Pakistan against PTI and sympathize against corruption of these goons

Pakistan Times used to be prime English newspaper of Pakistan. It was the nursery and a school for Pakistani journalism as well. It gave us several great reporters, editors and commentators.
In 90's, Dawn and BB's government played a role to shut it down. Private media was envy of Pakistan Times as it used to exclusively receive all government/court notices and job advertisements. That was a much better model than what we have today.
It is time that government revives Pakistan Times under a trust with a completely independent but 'Pakistan oriented' editorial policy and give it all government advertisement to be independent of private media-houses.

At present there is no English newspaper which gives Pakistan's viewpoint. The outside world is totally dependent upon the media which is rather an echo centers of western interests. Consequently the foreign readers have no access to the real Pakistani news. This has reinforced the negative perception of Pakistan in the foreign world.
It was so unfortunate that once Dawn monopolized the English news market, it sold itself to the highest bidders than to maintain an independent policy. Long ago Dawn had maintained editorial policy to present the interests of Karachi and the Industrial class with a fairly independent news section - but not anymore.
