IMF was and is aware of the political climate of Pakistan. It knows how Sharifs and Zardari looted the country and built empires around the world for their piglets. It imposed economic reforms and conditions that disproportionately benefit international financial interests while exacerbating social and economic hardships for the common people. It never encouraged building institutions to punish and purge those looting the country.
In the February 8 elections, the people of Pakistan spoke and voted for Imran Khan. But that was not acceptable to the establishment. it put the civilian facade by installing dummies like Sharifs and Zardari and keeping the real power to itself. It installed its men in every institution to have control of the country. While all this was going on IMF was still providing loans to this mafia so that it could rule the country.
Now when people came out against this corrupt trio tear gas shells were bombarded at them. According to the interior minister of Pakistan, each shell cost a couple of thousand rupees. From where does the government of Pakistan get money to purchase all those tear gas shells? And when the protesters reached Islamabad, they were gunned down by para-military forces. The security forces were unable to stop insurgents but were quick to use live ammunition against peaceful protesters - just to protect the trio of Establishment, Nawaz & Zardari mafia.
By giving loans to this illegitimate trio, the IMF is providing a lifeline to this corrupt mafia and is equally responsible for the crimes this trio is committing against the people of Pakistan.
