Major Mohammed Waqas and four of his soldiers were just killed by TTP insurgents in South Waziristan, adding to the more than 1,200 Pakistani security forces who have lost their lives in combat over the past two years alone. His blood, like so many others, is on General Asim Munir's hands, whose high-treason have plunged Pakistan into a severe security crisis. Political maneuvers like bombing Afghanistan, resulting in the massacre of Pakistani Pashtun civilians, will only make the crisis worse. These young officers and soldiers are paying the price for Asim Munir’s, decisions, high-treason and war-crimes.
Anyway, I feel nothing anymore. A few years ago, this news would have overwhelmed me and turned me numb. Now, I’m indifferent. Whether all 600,000 Pakistani soldiers return in body bags or not, I simply don’t care. Don’t abuse me, reserve it for the generals who changed my heart forever. I'm not the only one who feels that way today; many, if not most, in Pakistan do.
