ISLAMABAD: If no other person moved a court of law or the chief justice of Pakistan did not take suo moto notice of the statement of Tanzim Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief Maulana Sufi Muhammad against the countrys judicial system, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would move a court for initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the TNSM chief.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Babar Ghauri stated this while talking to The News here on Monday. The MQM has serious reservations about the statement of Maulana Sufi Muhammad, which have already been expressed, he said. Non-acceptance of the superior courts of the country is tantamount to contempt of court, he said.
EVen Nawaz sharif is getting against this so called TNSM ...
The MQM leader said Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry should take notice of the TNSM chiefs statement, which implied that until now nobody was Muslim in Pakistan. He said the organisations of lawyers, which have been waging struggle for the restoration of the chief justice, too, must take notice of the issue.
However, we will continue raising this issue at every forum, the minister said. We are not alone in expression of concern over the matter but many other individuals and organisations also have serious reservations in this regard, he added.
When contacted, Awami National Party (ANP) Information Secretary Zahid Khan said his party is not worried about the statement of the TNSM chief, as it is not taking it seriously. He said it seems that the TNSM chief stated this after being impressed by such a huge gathering of people. Neither are we worried about the issue nor anybody else needs to worry about it, he said.
We should appreciate the stand of MQM and even Nawaz sharif is opposing this TNSM.....
