Nawaz Sharif and Musharraf

THIS is apropos the report ‘Nawaz Sharif refuses to forgive Musharraf’ (May 2). But General Musharraf forgave him and let him proceed to Saudi Arabia, although Nawaz Sharif had committed an ‘act of treason’.

It all began with Kargil. The 11th Gorkha Rifles had occupied the Kargil Heights in December 1971. At Simla, the Indians refused to withdraw. What had been the ‘Ceasefire Line’ since 1949 was blatantly shifted and christened as the ‘Line of Control’.

Gen Musharraf took back the Heights when opportunity knocked.

The Indians used all their might but could not dislodge the Pakistanis from their well dug in high ground. Hundreds of bodies were shown arriving at Indian homes. There was an uproar in the country. Morale was flagging. As a last resort, Mr. Bajpai sent an SOS to President Clinton who, of course, obliged immediately.

Mr Sharif was summoned.

At the Blair House in Washington Nawaz Sharif was no match against the president’s relentless brow-beating. He conceded to a withdrawal followed by a ceasefire, entirely against the brief by his generals. The cart had been put before the horse. An elated president Clinton telephoned the Indian prime minister from Blair House. (A word-for-word recorded account appears in Bruce Reidal’s report.)

Bajpai could now claim that he had driven out the Pakistanis from Kargil and accepted a ceasefire. Nawaz Sharif had bailed out the Indians, thinking that he was saving Pakistan.

Alas! Most of our casualties comprised retreating soldiers with bullets in their backs, while carrying out the orders of their prime minister.

The Indians were also on the verge of defeat in a proxy war, where they were supporting the Tamils and Pakistan supported Sri Lanka and was their main arms supplier. Gen Musharraf was returning on the fateful PK 805 from Colombo after probably placing the last few nails in the coffin of the Indian-backed insurgency.

The Indians knew that the general had not led a military delegation to check out the Sri Lankan weather. They watched PK 805 like the cat stares forlornly at the juicy little birdie in the cage. Had its captain followed instructions, the hated general would have been dropped plump in their lap at Ahmadabad.

The question is, why did Nawaz Sharif not stop the aircraft on the ground at Colombo. If the order: “Musharraf’s aeroplane must not land at any airport in Pakistan — ” were given immediately after takeoff; or even up to an hour or so after takeoff, the aircraft could proceed to one of the many friendly airports in the vicinity.

Why did he wait until PK 805 was just about to land at Karachi and had used up most of its fuel. The one and only airport, outside Pakistan, that it could then reach was Ahmadabad.

Was a serving COAS of the Pakistan Army being handed over to India? He could very well be carrying details of our defence secrets or nuclear assets, right there in his laptop,

This mindless order of the prime minister was in fact the first ‘act of high treason’ in this Musharraf/Nawaz saga.

APML activists rally in support of Musharraf

Staff Report

LAHORE: Hundreds of supporters of former President Pervaiz Musharraf and workers of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) took to the streets and staged protest rally in the provincial capital on Thursday.

The rally was taken out from APML office Garden town to Liberty Roundabout.

The protesters demanded immediate release of Musharraf and withdrawal of cases against him. Carrying placards and banners, APML workers chanted slogans against Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for disqualifying Musharraf from contesting General Elections 2013, scheduled on May 11. “Set Musharraf Free”, “Unconstitutional decisions not acceptable”, “Musharraf is not a criminal” were the slogans inscribed on placards and banners.

Former President Pervaiz Musharraf had returned to Pakistan on March 24after four years of self-imposed exile since November 2008. Musharraf was declared disqualified for contesting election after his nomination papers were rejected from Chitral on April 16 by election tribunal. However on April 18, Islamabad High Court ordered his arrests.

The rally started from APML Garden Town office, while passing through Center Point on Main Boulevard where protesters staged a sit-in. The protesters blocked the road at Liberty roundabout, which also caused massive traffic jam on Boulevard.

The rally was organised by APML’s leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf and other party leaders. Speakers at the rally criticised the ECP and judiciary for disqualifying Musharraf, his arrest and lodging cases against him.

Ashraf stated Musharraf’s disqualification and his arrest was a shameful act despite he fulfilled all requirements of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution. He said that charges were framed against him in his absence from country and no case was registered during his presence. He was of the view that these elections were a drama and nightmare for the terrorists and extremists as number of people linking with banned organisations and terrorists had been allowed to contest poll without any hurdle.

Ashraf observed that it was awful that murderers, tax evaders, thieves and corrupt people were contesting the coming elections, adding that APML thus decided to boycott elections in absence of their leader.

i hate ns but this report is compeltely pack of lies. pak army refused to admit during the crisis that its soldiers were occupying the kargil instead they claimed it was some militants. they refused to take bodies of fallen soldiers. the indians had to bury them on their side and are still there. so in fact it was musharraf who commited treason sveral times. first for kargil, second for unlawfully taking over the country, and third by imposing emergency in 2007 to remove all the judges. musharraf must be punished for his crimes and army should not stand in the way of justice. thats the only way to thwart any future attempts by adventurests army generals to take over the country.

This Pakistani law is always manipulated by one side who wants to take advantage over the other.

As you talk about generals breaking laws, the army always comes in when politicians fail. This means your hate for generals is biased like any army-hater.

As you are concerned, you can never be part of law for doing justice because justice can never be done with a mind full of hate.

Ab jao... apna kaam karo..

it doesnt matter if someone hates or loves the law breakers. the point is that justice must be done at all cost no matter how powerfull the law breaker is. army job is to protect the borders not run the country. on personal note i always work like 6 millions other overseas pakistanis and have very strong opinion about what happens in pakistan. so dont waste your time to prevent me from expressing my opinion. it wont work!

Munafiq Musharef is one of the gifts given by Dumbo Mr Nawaz Shrief in his second tenure as Prime minister who boasted more than two thirds majority.
Munafiq Musharef was made COAS superseding five more senior generals after the resignation of Gen Jahigir Karamat under pressure from Mr Nawaz Sharief.
Mr Nawaz Sharief wanted a docile COAS who would not be a threat to his absolute grip on power so he chose Munafiq Musharef much like Bhutto who chose Gen Zia over serveral more capable Generals.
Now comes the second gift by Mr Nawaz Sharief for the people of Pakistan that is the approval of Kargil operation requested and presented by his new COAS Munafiq Musharef. Munafiq Musharef presented his so called fool proof plan and Mr Nawaz Sharif gave his blessings to carry out this operation while at the same time he was engaging Mr Vajpi in normalization of relationship in Lahore!!!

Munafiq Musharef was an incompetent soldier and did not deserve to be the COAS he had no success in retaking of Siachin from India
quoting wiki "After 1984, Pakistan launched several attempts to displace the Indian forces, but with little success. The most well known was in 1987, when an attempt was made by Pakistan to dislodge India from the area. The attack was masterminded by Pervez Musharraf (later President of Pakistan) heading a newly raised elite SSG commando unit raised with United States Special Operations Forces help in the area.[SUP][21][/SUP] A special garrison with eight thousand troops was built at Khapalu. The immediate aim was to capture Bilafond La but after bitter fighting that included hand to hand combat, the Pakistani attack was repulsed and the positions remained the same."

So to cut the story short Mr Nawaz Sharif has time and again harmed Pakistan and he has no problem with the killing of Paksitani soldiers and citizens to remain in power he is Gadar e Watan of the highest order and Munafiq Musharef an undeserving COAS

MAY ALLAH SWA PROTECT US FROM BOTH AMEEN
