Army's Top Brass quotes the Quran (Surah Al-Hujurat 49:6) about verifying news from unreliable sources and warns against blindly forwarding misinformation. Respectfully... is he serious?
Because let’s talk about 9 May 2023 — the very day the army wants etched into national shame like it’s 1971. What did they do?
They ran the biggest “Forwarded as Received” campaign in the country’s history.
All of this happened without a single independent inquiry, no judicial commission, no cross-examination, no voice from the other side.
When the 9 May narrative was falling apart and people started sharing videos from the ground contradicting state media, what did the state do?
Well, guess what? The entire narrative around 9 May violated that command.
And the damage has already been done:
…it was the state itself.
When the military-industrial complex in Pakistan demands belief without evidence,
and punishes those who ask questions,
it becomes the very source of fāsad (corruption) the Quran warns us about.
Pakistan deserves truth. Not “forwarded as received.”

The Playbook:
- CCTV footage? Never presented in court.
- PTI? Collectively branded as terrorists within hours.
- Arrests? Thousands jailed, many without charges or due process.
- Media? Blackouts. Names/Photos Banned. Narratives copy-pasted across channels.
- Journalists? Silenced, abducted, Killed or self-censoring.
- Courts? Bullied or bypassed. (courtesy : 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill)
- Social media? Bot armies flooding timelines with the “official version”.
All of this happened without a single independent inquiry, no judicial commission, no cross-examination, no voice from the other side.
Let’s not forget: They shut down the internet
When the 9 May narrative was falling apart and people started sharing videos from the ground contradicting state media, what did the state do?- Blocked Twitter/X, YouTube, and Facebook
- Shut down mobile service across the country
- Deployed PTA and Eye-S-Eye to throttle VPNs
- Disabled live-streaming, geolocation, and secure chat tools
If your story is solid, you don’t need to turn off the internet to tell it.That’s not the behavior of a confident state.
That’s the reflex of a regime that fears what the people might see.
What did the Army want?
They wanted you to “Forward as Received” their version of 9 May —
No questions. No evidence. No context. No defense.
Just repost, obey, believe.
What they actually wanted:
- The entire country to act as amplifiers, not analysts.
- Emotion over evidence.
- Fear over facts.
- Blind loyalty over democratic questioning.
And now they quote the Quran:
"If a fāsiq (liar) brings you news, verify it… lest you harm people out of ignorance."
[Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:6]
Well, guess what? The entire narrative around 9 May violated that command.
And the damage has already been done:
- Innocents labeled as traitors
- Women tortured
- Families destroyed
- Democracy gutted
…it was the state itself.
Final Thought:
When the military-industrial complex in Pakistan demands belief without evidence,
and punishes those who ask questions,
it becomes the very source of fāsad (corruption) the Quran warns us about.
Pakistan deserves truth. Not “forwarded as received.”
