Hello All,

Please do not bash me not to search it on google, I did look up some information and have an idea but would like to confirm due to time constraint.

My nephew is born in US but his mother is also US national and carry NICOP. Can we apply for his NICOP? According to NADRA website, it required his US passport, Birth certificate, and her CNIC which I assumed NICOP would replaced. Keep in mind, his father is not Pakistani national.

Is anyone apply for their baby from US? Is there anything else I would need? I am really short with time so I want to ensure it goes through successfully.

Appreciate all your assistance!!

You are right about NICOP being equivalent to CNIC with the former being for overseas Pakistanis. From my understanding both parents of the child require a Pakistani identity. So your nephew's father might have to get a POC since he is not a Pakistani national, but I am not sure about this as it is a rare occurrence. I think you should contact NADRA directly or one of the US consulates in order to get clarification. The consulate in Chicago will pick up the phone.

Logic is to prove pakistani citizenship through the parents, 6 years ago i applied for my newborn son, my NICOP was expired , but my wife's was valid, they were able to process the application with just my wife's card. But things change in 6 years so advice is to call, visit the embassy with all proofs.

I think the mother CNIC will be enough....
just go ahead and apply for the card with the documents required..
dont worry about the father..... the kid will get NICOP for sure as his mother is pakistaniii,

NICOP is for pakistani citizens so he can't have it until he becomes a pakistani citizen but he can get poc which is as good as NICOP. POC is pakistan origin card is given to a foreihlgn national who has a pakistani parent or grandparent

Why not apply for a passport straight? If the kids mother is a pakistani I don't think you will need any unacquirable documents to get a passport for the kid.

One of the parents needs to be holding Pakistani nationality means passport or NICOP. If mother has NICOP it’s sufficient any thing else is online you can check on Pakistan highly commission website. Remember NICOP only get issued if you have or had Pakistani passport while living abroad. NICOP now replaces your passport to travel back to Pakistan. Obviously you need one passport “anyone” to board the plane.

I’ve read people commenting falsely. Don’t listen to any rubbish it’s a universal law on of the parents need to be national of the required country’s nationality. Hope I’m clearing myself enough. Any child born out of Pakistani parents in the world of any country where Pakistani high commission is you can go and get your child NICOP or Pakistani passport.

That's what my assumption, Nadra website only mentioned Parent CNIC on required document

On Nadra website, it gives an option to apply NICOP for those who do not have any identity issued by Nadra.

But it wouldn't be available to a foreign national. If it is then it solves your problem, doesn't it? :) i'm sure it will be POC for your nephew. For NICOP you have to have some sort of pak ID, just download the form and take a look, you will know.
