This is the amazing scene as a freelance photographer risks his life to capture an image of a hungry lion from just a few feet away.

Fearless Atif Saeed, 38, from Lahore, Pakistan was in the city's safari park when he spotted the male lion in the distance.
Mr Saeed got out of his car and crept up towards the hunter armed only with a camera and fired off a few frames.

Armed only with a camera, Mr Saeed, managed to capture a couple of frames before retreating to safety

Unfortunately, the clicking sound of the camera's shutter alerted the lion to Mr Saeed's presence, who was forced to retreat quite rapidly from just 10 feet away from the lion.
He said: 'I was sitting in front of him just near my car and the door of my car was open. I was sat on ground few feet away, so he was treating me like his prey.

Atif Saeed is really lucky.

Not only did the nature photographer capture an amazing shot of a male lion in a safari park near Lahore, Pakistan he lived to tell the tale.

This was almost the last photo he ever shot.

As Saeed tells the Daily Mail, he spotted the lion and decided he had to get closer.

"I was thinking I must show the character and status of lion and this was the only way I could think of to achieve this," he said.

But some noise from the camera lens or shutter attracted the lion's attention, and, just at that moment, he charged.

Saeed told the Mail he "was laughing at that time, but now when I think back about the incident I dont think I would be able to do it again. It was a pretty close encounter."

The lion was about 10 feet away when Saeed managed to jump back into his vehicle.

It turns out the lion didn't want his picture taken.

Check out more of Saeed's work on Facebook or 500px.

With this zoom, photographer was standing 100 feet away (if not more). He was safe.

Great shot nevertheless.

And how many seconds does it take a lion to cover these 100 feet? around 2 to 3 seconds only**. Even if the person was standing next to his car one can panic in this kinda situation and slip while getting back into the car. So I don't think it can be called 'safe'

** A lioness can reach upto a speed of 80 km/hr. Lets say it is Lion and was not completely ready so it can reach upto a speed of 50 km/hr only (45 feet/sec) in the next few seconds, still it will take it only 2 sec to cover 90 feet distance.
