SINDH SENIOR CITIZENS CARDS
Sindh is issuing a Senior Citizens Card with green garden dream pictures. If old age is not bent upon to fail, it was perhaps the interim Government of Choudhary Shujat Hussain that the Federal Government announced facilities for the senior citizens. These were similar to the one immaterial so often announced by each ruler of the time for the Overseas Pakistanis. I congratulated my late father 85 then, on these facilities. He responded “son to avail 50% discount announced for elderlies on the museum ticket @ Rs. 2.50, now I am to pay extra Rs. 3 + Rs. 3 for two side bus fare from Gulberg to Burns Road Karachi increased after this elderly facilities to gain this Rs. 2.50 discount”. Please don’t ask me if my parents belonging to lower middle class had earlier in life visited or known where the Museum was before this generous 50% discount.
2. I enjoyed elderly priority treatment in Karachi only at two places for years namely the Habib Bank Limited Samanabad Branch and at the Jazz Gulshan-e-Iqbal. This priority treatment later at both places vanished. Jazz officer told me perforce they had to because many visitors objected to this priority.
3. I am a senior citizen. Long standing advocate of Sindh High Court. Due to too old age and with spread of Covid in Pakistan my daughter took me to Bahrain to look after me.
4. Every advocate @ 65 is entitled welfare fund yearly as per law for which he/she annually contributed to the concerned Bar Council welfare fund. I am today 75 plus but I have not taken even once my entitlement. During the last about five years I have sent more than two dozen requests to the Sindh Bar Council to help assist me in providing information as to how can I get that credited in my Karachi Bank Account but during all these years no response at all to this elderly member. I approached Pakistan Bar Council, Sindh High Court Overseas Pakistanis helpdesk for guidance as to how can I approach the Sindh Bar Council, only to be slapped in return with deep silence.
5. This is and almost same would be, the real naked reality of Sindh Senior Citizens Card. I took the Karachi businessmen wishing to have Maryam Nawaz in Sindh as fake news. But seeing Bilawal’s reaction I believed it was true.
