When we go one step forward outside Karachi and Hyderabad, people push us two step back. I have to think regionally, no other way.

I am assuming by 'we' you mean MQM. I guess we can have a long debate about that point. Probably another time. If we start it on here right now then it would have the potential for bigots and kiddos on either side of the argument to drag it into the gutter.

BTW, do you really think the rest of the parties are really NOT regionals? In my opinion they are either regional or sectarians. There is no national and Islamic party exist in Pakistan.

I didn't mean to imply that there are no regional parties in Pakistan or parties with strong support base in some regions. But that is the nature of the beast known as electoral politics. We are ill suited for a parliamentary system but that is a completely different discussion.

Though I still stand by comment as it was made in the context of the discussion.

eg. Dr. Arif Alvi lost intra party elections just because he is from Karachi, he got only four votes but no one in PTI from all over Pakistan bother to elect him as GS of PTI again. Think wisely, I am sure you will.

If he was defeated just because he is from Karachi then it was wrong. The problem with us is that we tend to look at things in black and white and ignore all the shades of gray. I guess as always we can respectfully agree to disagree.
