Also we don't have the right enemies, if Russia and China were our enemies then it would be a whole different ball game.
Notice how until really the 90s the US really didn't interfere or butt into any war in Africa when so many countries were warring with each other even supported by the Russians and Cubans. Example Namibia's war for independence with South Africa. Namibia which was backed by Soviet weaponry and Cuban soldiers on the ground.
