perhaps the meaning gets a bit distorted when translated....I have been told Quran is very hard to translate word for word which is why different versions of translations can have some differences in the meaning interpreted...perhaps the same is true for Salaat....we don't want to risk mis-translating it so read it in arabic only...

Thanks for Answer but reading in our language at least gives us some sense of what we are asking for...
Than if its in arabic we do not even understand most of it.. And Allah does know our intentions.. but reading something without knowing it does not make sense according to my friends..

So are you saying that every Muslim MUST learn fluent Arabic Language ? I do not know it and I am not sure about urself.. but most of us in Pakistan do not know full Arabic.. Hence question comes why not in local language? Where at least we know what we are reading and have some meanings to it?

This question arises due to ignorance of the fact why we need to learn arabic,

I mean to say any language that we understand .. It does not even have to be a National Language..

Point is to know what you are saying and have some meanings to it.

u mean to say....not in arabic but our National language???.......

You can ask in your language during salah.. like in sajda you can dua in urdu or english.
but the sura fathia and other sura you cannot translate or read in your language..

The question itself has no sense and shows ignorance.
We have to say Salat (Namaz) in Arabic because it is ordered so by our beloved Prophet (S.A.W.).
Its like asking that why we have to announce and recite Kalema-e-Tayyiba to become a Muslim.
OR why the Holy Book is in Arabic. And to understand it perfectly, we have to learn arabic. Or atleast try to learn Quran partially with its meanings. We learn English for higher studies, or learn a foreign language of a country while going their to persue professional education.
Admin, pls remove such stupid threads.

Nothing is stopping you from learning the translation in your language...In fact, it is recommended....It helps you focus more on your prayer and feel the power of those words...

perhaps its respect for the language in which Allah SWT sent down the Quran and the Prophet (PBUH) spread his message...Ask yourself, what is the benefit of English being so common? Language binds us as well. perhaps it was supposed to promote communication between muslims all over the world by encouraging them to learn Arabic...

Bcz Allah :subhanahu: and Our Holy Prophet pbuh has ordered us to offer prayer in Arabic ..... Arabic Zaban Allah Pak ki pasandida zaban hai tu Allah Pak se jab hum Namaz me hamkalam hotey hain tu Arabic me hi hotey hain kion k is ka hamain hukam hai ..

Ager ap kisi aur zaban me Namaz ada karain gey tu app ki namaz nahin ho gii

Its a good question but has a very simple answer...What is in Namaz?? Quranic Ayas ryt? And in those Ayas every single Surah has counted and specific numbers hidden in them.As Reciting Quran in Arabic has its own virtues..Its the same case with Namaz..You r reciting Quran in specific pattern so cannot be translated..Watch this youtube video and relate it to my answer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76PwAovAlEk

Actually whole Islamic teaching is in Arabic language. And it looks like Islam is designed for Arabic people. But b/c it is so old religion (some 1400 years old) so many things which does not make sense are also included in Islam and we cannot change. One of the biggest nonsense is that Islam claims to be religion for whole world but it was in Arabic language and hence can only be understood by a small no of people living in Arab. If Islam is a religion of whole world than God should reveal Quran in all languages that are spoken in this world or God should make all the world speak and understand one language.

Before answering ur question i went to pkpolitics thread about same question

By this u should know the importance of knowledge i.e the knowledge of deen the first Ayat revealed was about knowledge and the nearest meaning of a Hadith Shareef is that "“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.’”" so this is our responsibility to learn at least what we recite in Namaaz.

Now let me give u a logical example i hope i could explain it properly so that u understand
Imagine we both r praying namaaz with jamaat, u have read and memorized/understood different translation in urdu and I have read another translation which might be different and we must recite the translation word by word of the arabic not less not much... now imagine the situation the Imaam forgets a verse in between nd u remind him by ur translation and i remind him the verse with mine and imagine Imaam has read different translation of the same ayat what would be the situation there? Now compare this with arabic in which Quran was revealed and u will come to conclusion. It is our duty to at least learn and understand the translation of what we recite in Namaaz... May ALLAH ALMIGHTY the most merciful forgive me if i have written anything wrong Aameen....
