A theory in the scientific terms is an explanation of a fact that is well supported by evidence, rigorous peer reviews, makes accurate predictions and can be tested. So you cannot have a scientific theory, without an underlying fact that it is explaining.
Evolution; the idea that living things have been changing over time and 99% of the species are extinct and new ones taking their place is a fact. The Theory of evolution explains how this fact occurs with support from other facts, it has been cross confirmed by other fields in science and is the basis of modern day biology.

Being a synthetic chemist does not make Dr Tour an authority in Evolutionary Biology, it is irrelevant to mention his Chemistry credentials here and it sounds like a common logical fallacy used by creationists in the US at the start of an argument from authority.

Because someone doesn't understand how a concept works it doesn't mean it doesn't work and this is not a reasonable ground to discredit an entire field of study. Ignorance does not equal skepticism. This logical fallacy is called an argument from ignorance.

Dr. Tour has stated many times in his blog that he does not want to debate on Evolution because he is not qualified. He is a deeply religious man and religion is a very important part of his life, he prays 2 hours every each morning. He also believes that the world is 6000 years old as the bible says, but admits that he can't prove any of this with evidence. I appreciate his contribution to Chemistry and sympathize with him as a man who is torn between scientific fact and his personal religious beliefs.
I doubt that a man as intelligent as Dr Tour would not understand evolution if he wanted to and there are many people he could talk to. The problem is he does not want to understand it for the same reason you are opposed to it. It directly conflicts with his personal religious beliefs. This is called cognitive dissonance.

That video is on the origin of life and is irrelevant in this discussion. Evolution makes no claim on the origin of life it simply explains how those life forms evolved. Origin of life is a completely different field called Abiogenesis.
