متحدہ عرب امارات نے امریکا سے جدید ترین ایف 35 طیاروں کی خریداری پر بات چیت کا معاہدہ معطل کردیا۔

بین الاقوامی خبر رساں ایجنسی کے مطابق واشنگٹن میں اماراتی سفارت خانے نے ایک بیان جاری کیا ہے جس میں کہا کہ یو اے ای امریکا کے ساتھ 'بات چیت معطل' کردے گا، البتہ اس ہفتے پینٹاگون میں دونوں فریقوں کے درمیان دیگر معاملات پر ملاقاتیں شیڈول کے مطابق آگے بڑھیں گی۔

یو اے ای کے حکام نے الزام عائد کیا ہے کہ امریکہ کی جانب سے یہ جاننے کا اصرار کہ ایف 35 طیاروں کو کس طرح اور کہاں استعمال کیا جاسکتا ہے، متحدہ عرب امارات کی خودمختاری کی خلاف ورزی ہے۔

بیان میں مزید کہا گیا ہے کہ امریکا جدید دفاعی ضرورتوں کے لیے متحدہ عرب امارات کا ترجیحی فراہم کنندہ ہے اور ایف 35 طیاروں سے متعلق بات چیت مستقبل میں دوبارہ ہو سکتی ہے۔

دوسری جانب امریکہ نے کہا ہے کہ وہ اب بھی یو اے ای کو جنگی طیارے فروخت کرنے کو تیار ہے۔

خیال رہے کہ متحدہ عرب امارات کو 50 ایف 35 طیاروں کی مجوزہ فروخت کا معاملہ سابق صدر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کی حکومت کے آخری سال میں سامنے آیا تھا۔ 23 ارب ڈالر کے اس دفاعی معاہدے میں 18 جدید ڈرون سسٹم اور فضا سے فضا اور فضا سے زمین تک مار کرنے والے اسلحوں کی فروخت بھی شامل ہے۔

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted Wednesday the US was still prepared to sell F-35 fighter jets to the UAE, which has threatened to scrap the deal over stringent conditions.

The $23 billion arms package was pushed through by former president Donald Trump in what was seen as a reward for the United Arab Emirates’ recognition of Israel, but his successor Joe Biden has pledged greater oversight over the planes.

The Gulf state threatened to dump the agreement Tuesday over the strict conditions, and it comes as Washington grows concerned about China’s involvement with the US ally.

But Blinken said “we remain prepared to move forward… if that is what the Emiratis are interested in doing,” speaking during a visit to Malaysia.

Asked about the conditions the US has set, he did not give precise details, but said Washington wanted to ensure that Israel maintains its “military edge.”

“We wanted to make sure that we could do a thorough review of any technologies that are sold or transferred to other partners in the region,” he said.

US ally Israel historically objected to Arab states obtaining the F-35s, seeking to maintain its regional advantage, but gave its blessing after the UAE last year became the first new Arab country in decades to recognize the Jewish state.

The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the impasse, said that the United States was insisting on conditions to make sure the F-35s would not be vulnerable to Chinese espionage.

Lawmakers from Biden’s Democratic Party unsuccessfully sought to stop the sale, pointing in part to the Gulf state’s participation in the bloody Saudi-led offensive in Yemen and its support for Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar.

The F-35s are prized for stealth capabilities and versatility with the capacity to gather intelligence, strike deep into enemy territory and engage in air duels.

Israel and the UAE have found common cause on concerns about Iran, although a top Emirati official this month visited Iran, where officials voiced hope for smoother ties.

After Sultan Selim’s conquest of Egypt and Syria, defeating the Mamluks (another Turco-Islamic empire that held the title of caliph at the time). He was on his journey back to the capital of the Ottomans (Istanbul) basking in his new found glory, Sultan Selim entered the city of Aleppo and was announced as the new ruler of Mecca and Medina by an Imam at a mosque in those lands. Sultan Selim objected and corrected the Imam and istated the following ‘Seek refuge in God and correct your statement, I am only a mere servant to these holy lands not a ruler’. The Sultan’s that succeeded him continued Sultan Selim’s legacy as the ‘Servants of the two holy cities’ and never claimed to be the ‘rulers’ of this sacred land.
So in a political sense these lands were controlled by the Ottoman Sultans/Caliphs but they never found it appropriate to declare themselves as the rulers but only servants to the lands that held the Kaaba and Al Masjid an Nabawi (Prophet Muhammad PBUH’s mosque). This showed their sensitivity towards their religion and is a major factor for their long reign as the Caliphs of the Muslim ummah!
