brother, If Islam is what you are talking about, i wonder what would Islam say about a woman such as Meera and her will to contest in such elections.
Is there an ISLAMIC precedence to any of this?
Isn't that how din e Ibrahimi was practiced in pre-Islam Arab where people were sincerely following the ibrahimic faith in good sincerity and just used a few idols as reminders of their pious elders such as huza, hubal to facilitate communication with God. things are not so different nowadays in Pakistan if you look at it from that perspective. In fact, here you will find not only idol worshiping of different kinds, you actually find worshiping of real people, both living and dead !
So, with such a Pakistan in sight, same as pre Islam Arab! we should open our eyes and try working out how far away we have come from early Islamic ethics, code of conduct, morality (sounds like a fantasy and Utopian time if looking at early Muslim morality).
As for Islam, a situation like Meera in aftermath of being part of Elections in any capacity would have never happened in the first place.
