Re: British High Commissioner takes notice of Altaf Hussains statements

There are reports circulating widely that MQM has made a list of PTI student leaders across Karachi who they intend to target. We should not be complacent and sit on our ***. Continue to pursue this!

is lotay media key saath to achha hi hoa hai

The action they have taken is not sufficient. We should continue to pursue Altaf legally under the Public disorder act. He is committing numerous offences.

Yesterday night, he threatened the media and their owners.

if ONE and ONLY ONE PTI leader/student leader 'dies' in KARACHI...Then, this would be the last nail in MQM's coffin...and they know it, so it's just a rumour...A Single Shahdat of a PTI leader wd gather the whole KARACHI on one point and that's to SUPPORT PTI...and MQM would never want it.

Yes, they only realized it after thousands of people have already died. You can't fool people Mr. High Commissioner.

This is nothing but hogwash on part of the Goras! They have done nothing to stop him from unleashing his reign of terror from Edgeware and I am not sure that they will have a change of heart about it. Idiots! In fact its the UK government which should be sued by Pakistani government for harboring a person who is responsible for thousands of deaths in Karachi.

London police “flooded with complaints” against Altaf’s statements

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.—File Photo

ISLAMABAD: The London Metropolitan police has been flooded with complaints by hundreds of British and Pakistani citizens against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s recent statements, British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomson said Wednesday.
“We are well aware of Altaf Hussain’s remarks immediately after the election. We received quite a number of representations on them. More to the point, the London Metropolitan Police have been flooded with complaints from both Pakistani and British citizens about those remarks,” said the British High Commissioner.
“The police have received a large number of complaints. It is for them and not for the British High Commission, or the British High Commissioner, to say what they will do next.”
In a speech televised across various media channels Sunday night , Altaf Hussain ‘threatened’ to separate Karachi from the rest of Pakistan if the public mandate of his party was not accepted.
“What we say is that wherever somebody has a concern that hatred or violence is being incited, that one community or another is being turned against others, this should be reported to the police. And I know that they take such allegations very, very seriously indeed,” Thomson said.
He added that the London police was independent to investigate the complaints and was under no pressure from the UK government.
He, however, observed that Altaf had later denied making such statements.
“It may be that they were never said or they have been retracted. But as far as the United Kingdom is concerned, we have very strong laws which are enforced on that prohibit the incitement to violence or incitement of hatred. And we take these laws seriously.”
Responding to another query about extradition, the British High Commissioner said that that Pakistan and United Kingdom have no formal extradition treaty. He said that extradition “is complicated in the UK Pakistan case as there is no extradition treaty. It doesn’t make it impossible, but it does make it quite difficult.”

British High Commissioner Adam Thomson took notice of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s statements of “separating Karachi” on Wednesday, reported Express News.
Thousands of complaints were sent to the London metropolitan police after Altaf addressed his supporters in Karachi where he allegedly threatened PTI supporters who were protesting against rigging.
Altaf also said that Karachi should be separated from Pakistan if the mandate given to the MQM by the people is not acceptable.
The statements created an uproar across the country, after which the party clarified saying Altaf’s statements were rhetorical, and misinterpreted by the media.
Thomson said that the London police are looking into the complaints and may take action soon.
“Under British laws promoting hatred and violence is liable to punishment and Altaf Hussain’s statements must be taken seriously.” he said.
The high commissioner added that, “unlike some countries in the world, the British police are fiercely independent of British government. And it is for the British police to investigate allegations of incitement to violence or incitement to hatred.”
Altaf has apparently retracted or denied his statement, Thomson further said.
On Tuesday, reports emerged of Altaf being unwell. Doctors advised him to pause all political activity for a few days and take bed rest.
