LAHORE: Constituents of Lahore's NA-120 slammed PPP's candidate Faisal Mir for linking the issue of garbage in the area to girls not getting married.

The contest for Lahore's NA-120 constituency is starting to heat up with candidates taking shots at each other. However, PPP's Faisal Mir may have gone a bit too far when he said that the presence of garbage in the area was causing hindrances for girls in the area to get married.

Constituents stated that Faisal Mir was not a resident of NA-120 and neither had he ever contested an election from there. Hence, they urged him to restrain himself from issuing controversial statements.

PTI's candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid also slammed Faisal Mir for his controversial statement.

The real contest is expected to go down the wire between PML-N's candidate Kulsoom Nawaz, the former First Lady and Dr Yasmin Rashid, who will be battling her on PTI's ticket.

NA-120 seat fell vacant after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the apex court on July 28, 2017.

Sharif was dismissed on grounds of not being Sadiq and Ameen as required by Articles 62, 63 of the constitution.
