Ive been saying this since day 1. I literally have Chinese family members, I have good friends living in China for over a decade now and I have asked them this and they all say its all bullshit. I even had middle aged Chinese lady friend who was always talking about the Muslim culture in China.
There was a group among them who were/are shitty separatist terrorists who did some really shitty stuff like blowing up a bus filled with innocent civilians and other such shitty attacks, so the govt was cracking down on them, understandably of course.
This was Americas shitty attempt when they saw Pakistan and other Muslim countries specially the GCC leaning towards China they made up this shit to stir religious sentiments
