سابق کپتان قومی کرکٹ ٹیم شاہ آفریدی نے کراچی میں ایک تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ میں بھی بابر اعظم کا فین ہوں لیکن وہ بطور کھلاڑی جتنا بڑا کھلاڑی ہے تو میں چاہتا تھا کہ وہ ملک کے بہترین کپتانوں کی لسٹ میں شامل ہو۔ بابر اعظم کو ٹیم کی کپتانی کے لیے 3 سے 4 سال دیئے جس کے بعد ہمیں امید تھی کہ وہ بہترین کپتان ثابت ہو گا اور اپنے آپ کو منوا پائے گا لیکن ایسا نہیں ہو سکا، میں نے اس کی بہت سی غلطیاں دیکھی ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ بابر اعظم کی کپتانی پر کبھی بھی تلوار نہیں لٹکتی رہی لیکن کسی بھی ٹیم کے لیڈر میں بہت سی خوبیاں ہوتی ہیں۔ کوئی بھی ٹیم لیڈر اکیلے فیصلے نہیں کرتا بلکہ اپنے ساتھیوں کو ساتھ لے کر چلتا ہے، یہی خوبی یونس خان میں بھی تھی جو اپنے کھلاڑیوں کو ساتھ لے کر چلتے تھے۔ کرکٹ ورلڈکپ میں مجھے اس ٹیم سے پرفارم کرنے کی بہت امید تھی لیکن ہمارے کھلاڑی سکلز کے مطابق پرفارم نہیں کر سکے۔

سینئر صحافی فرید خان نے شاہد آفریدی کے بیان پر ردعمل دیتے ہوئے لکھا کہ: شاہد آفریدی کا کہنا ہے کہ بابر اعظم کو بطور کپتان اپنے آپ کو منوانے کے لیے 4 سال دیئے گئے لیکن وہ ناکام ہو گئے۔ بابراعظم میں کپتانی کرنے کی وہ صلاحیتیں موجود نہیں ہیں جو کہ یونس خان تھیں جو جانتا تھا کہ اپنے کھلاڑیوں کو کیسے استعمال کرنا ہے۔

I mentioned right before the world cup on this forum that haris will cost us the world cup since he do not have any skills and line. Shaheen is also a medium class bowler and run leaker. Shadab is a run leaker as well. I am surprised when we can notice all this sitting outside, how a captain or coach can't.

Aamir and Imad should have been in the team. Khushdil shah could been a better option than nawaz. Dhani was an option as well.
Babar mistake was team selection. This was the worst team selection ever. No back up was there. Every one is advocating for Abrar. Abrar is a test match player, he can't be a one day player. Also, his batting is zero.

Koi aik bowler to btao, jis ny line py bowling ki ho other than iftikhar and hassan.
I will recommend Babar as captain with full authority in team selection.
Babar only big mistake is not to create back up players for replacement.

Haris and Shaheen must sent to play first class cricket before they are eligible to play at international level. Shaheen is and was never consistent Haris is despicable, he dont have any cricketing sense, missing variation, swing etc nothing bowler.

sir maine isi politics aur sattey bazi ki wajja se cricket daikhna hi choh diya tha; thanks to Waseem Akram the biggest sattey baaz. there should b death penality for Asif and Aamir. this lot is just street level players with no caliber. coverall cricket standard is at its lowest. only few country play cricket. we must invest in football or some other popular sport.
(even today i just likes to watch Shoaib skhtar, muhammad zahid, Muhhamd shabbir and muhammad Akram bowling on youtube).

There is no evidence against Waseem, only blames.
With asif and amir, I can agree. But everyone should be given a chance after due punishment.
For me, bowling attack in the current lot should be Shaheen, Naseem, Ihsan u llah and as back up Dhani, Arshad Iqbal. We need another left hand fast bowler for Shaheen replacement. Aamir can be given chance until champions trophy. Not sure if he can play another four years for World cup.
For spin, Khushdil Shah is a good option with left arm bowling.
We need a replacement for Iftikhar as well. He can not play T20 and Champions trophy. Our death batting strength is almost zero. Imad and Khushdil Shah are better option for death bowling.
Batting is better. Fakhar, Saim Ayub, abdullah Shafique, babar, rizwan, Saud Shakeel provide enough strength.
So, team should be like this until champions trophy,

Simple change the bowlers both during the match and for the next game. Afterall captain has the authority for these things including the field placements etc

Reality is that Babar is a dumb and defensive captain. Many former Pakistani cricketers incl. Ramiz, Shoaib akhtar and Waseem Akram have said that. On top of that he is uneducated, so its like trying to teach Algebra to someone who doesn’t even know basic counting.
