Yemen war was started by rebels in yemen called houthis. Houthis claimed the 'asir' province of Saudi Arabia belongs to yemen and used to attack Saudi force occasionally. Later they launched a full scale attack and Saudi had no other option but to attack with full scale. Houthis are backed by Iran. Though the war is not an answer to anything but it wasn't started by Saudi either. Problem is houthi are stubborn and don't want to back off despite several offers by Saudi.
