Islam as we know it today is not at all what is envisioned in the Quran.

موجودہ صدی مذاہب کی موت کی صدی ہے۔ فریڈرک نیچے نے تو ڈیڑھ صدی پہلے ہی "گاڈ اِز ڈیڈ" کہہ کر مذہب کی موت کا اعلان کردیا تھا۔ ہم مگر ان معاشروں سے فکری طور پر کئی صدیاں پیچھے ہیں، اس لئے یہاں مذہب کی موت کو مزید وقت لگے گا۔ آج کا سوشل میڈیا پر بیٹھا مسلمان طبقہ احادیث کو دیکھ کر بھاگتا ہے، کبھی احادیث کو ضعیف کہہ کر پیچھا چھڑاتا ہے، کبھی احادیث کو ویسے ہی رد کردیتا ہے۔ اسی طرح قرآن کی کوئی آیت پیش کی جائے تو اس کیلئے بھی طرح طرح کی تاویلات کی جاتی ہیں، کبھی کہا جاتا ہے آؤٹ آف کانٹیکسٹ ہے، کبھی کہا جاتا ہے ترجمہ ٹھیک نہیں، کبھی کہا جاتا ہے یہ صرف اسی زمانے کیلئے تھی۔ یہ علامات ہیں اس بات کی کہ اسلام آج کے زمانے سے مطابقت نہیں رکھتا اور مسلمانوں کو آج کے دور میں اسلام کو لے کر چلنے میں شدید مشکلات پیش آرہی ہیں۔ رفتہ رفتہ مسلمانوں کو اسلام سے کُلی طور پر دستبردار ہونا پڑے گا، اگرچہ اس میں کافی وقت لگے گا، مگرزمانہ بہرحال تبدیلی لاکر ہی رہتا ہے۔۔

The pristine message of the Quran for all of humanity will prevail in the end, and all the "Mazahib" will self-destruct eventually.

Well to be honest you can't blame him ( well sort of ) all he ever knew was the bhaand moulvi Islam and he is not the only one who left Islam because of the bhaandpuna, a lot from the young generation are also leaving bhaand moulvi Islam, you'll also see majority of Islamophobes used these fairytales as cannon fodder against Islam.
Where these peoples fault lies is, instead of leaving they should have actually first tried to read and understand Allah's book.
Bhaand Moulvism of the fairytale books is the biggest enemy of Islam today.

As a non-Muslim, he has the right to criticize religion in the same way that Muslims do to other religions (Which is wrong though). Just be patient and respond with logic.

You dont believe on hadees, You don't believe in Namaz ( which is mentioned repeatedly in Quran) , you think it is a man made daily ritual , you also believe doing Tawaf is a shirk. ( Tawaf is also mentioned in Quran)
And then you say Alhamdulilah "I am a Muslim."
If praying Namaz is unislamic then all the mosques of the world committing blasphemy. They should all be closed ?
Personally, I feel as if M_Shameer knowledge of Islam is a lot more comprehensive then yours and he is extremely brave to publicly admit that he has given up his faith.

Do you know Allama Iqbal was also very inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche.
Since in India he couldn't say God is dead like Nietzsche , he brought the concept of Khudi. Nietzsche said, don't look for help from the divine power and Iqbal wrote, Khudi ko ker buland itna kay her taqdeer say pahlay khuda banday say khud poochay bata teri raza kiya hay.
By the way your argument that social media is playing a big role in the demise of religion is erroneous because according to the Australian research, more people are becoming religious fundamentalist then those who are giving up their faith thanks to the social media.
