Kaaba in the Qur'an

The act of making a circle around the Kaaba, known as Tawaf, is mentioned in the Quran, specifically in Surah Al-Hajj (22:26-29).

  • Surah Al-Hajj (22:26-29):
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], "Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate. (22:26)
That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor. (22:28)
Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform Tawaf around the ancient House. (22:29)
These verses indicate the significance of the Kaaba as a place for pilgrimage and worship, including the act of Tawaf.

It is so easy to invalidate the claim by the Arabs that Abraham was given the responsibility to build a house for God in Mecca. Firstly, Abraham and Ishmael had never been to Mecca. Secondly, if the house is the focal point for mankind as a place to serve God, all the prophets after Abraham failed to fulfill their obligation to go there. And lastly, the most important of all, The Supreme God does not need a house, an apartment, a condo, a chalet, a palace, or a sanctuary to stay.

We do not have much choice. That is the short answer. Why are we Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Sunnis, Shiahs, or Jews? The answer for the vast majority of us is because we were born into families that were already professing one of these religions. It is as simple as that. Few of us question what our parents and grandparents taught us. We just follow our parents.
Hindus put ash on their foreheads and pray to stone carvings which they believe represent their gods. They do this because their parents taught them to. A stone carving of a human shape with an elephant’s head for example is representative of a Hindu god.
Others like the Sunnis and Shiahs may find such beliefs illogical. Why? They were born into families where parents teach their children to pray toward a stone building in Mecca which they call the Kaaba. The Sunnis and Shiahs also kiss a black stone that is embedded into one corner of the Kaaba. To the Sunni and Shiah the Hindu representation of god in the form of a stone that looks like a human and elephant hybrid is not acceptable. To them praying towards a stone structure but in the shape of a cube is more logical.
Then comes the Christian who feels that the Sunni, Shiah, and Hindu prayers facing stone structures are all illogical because he has been taught by his parents that a Christian prays towards a cross which may be made of stone or wood. Or he may even pray towards a stone carving of a human form of Jesus or his mother Mary. To the Christian, this is more logical.
Then comes the Jew who says his ultimate holy of holies is a stone wall in Jerusalem. His parents have taught him to nod his head and rock his body to and fro in a wailing motion in front of his Wailing Wall. Praying facing a stone wall makes better sense to the Jew rather than praying to face a cross, a stone building, or a stone carving of a man-elephant hybrid.
Each person who is born into a Sunni, Shiah, Hindu, Christian, or Jewish household will defend his religion to the hilt simply because he was born into the religion. There are converts of course who convert out of choice but once converted their descendants are automatically born into the adopted religion of their fathers.
We believe and uphold our religions so much because we inherit our religions from our parents. What does the Koran say about inheriting religion from our parents?

2:170 And when it is said to them, Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay! We follow what we found our fathers upon. What! And though their fathers had no sense at all, nor did they follow the right way.

What clear signs are inside of Kaaba?

Is "MUqam" Abraham inside the Kaaba? Even though the Quran says, "MAqam" Abraham.

Since they proudly claim Islam abhors all images and icons, how can they not notice that the religious rites they faithfully observe are blatant idol worship? Do they not devote their faith and bow and prostrate to a physical house? If their answer is no: • Then why do they say it is ‘God’s house’?
Why do they use the expression baytul-lah which is not found in the Reading? The truth is the innovators of the Arab religion have been very successful in deceiving people. They make their followers perform ridiculous body movements without telling them why. Yet they cannot even answer these simple questions! No modern Arab or scholar of the Arab religion can provide intelligent answers to these basic questions: • Is the stone house in Mecca God’s house or baytullah? • Why is God not inside His house – or is He? • Why do they have to bow and prostrate to the rocks carved by the Arab? • Are they prostrating to God or to the rocks? • Why do they walk around the house and in an anti-clockwise direction? • If they are prostrating to God and not the rock hunk, can we move the stone structure to Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, or other countries? • Would their pilgrimage ritual and their five daily ritual prayers be nullified without making the rock hunk as their focal point. Of course, the crux of the matter lies in simple logic. If they worship the house, they need to say that God is present in it. If that is the case – fine. However, if God does not live
in the Cube, they are venerating the cube-idol. All they have
to do is prove that God is in there.

If no sensible answer is forthcoming from the religionists
themselves, why then should the Muslims continue to put
their trust in the religionists? Perhaps they naively assume it
is not harmful to follow the religionists blindly. The
pertinent question is whether obeying such absurdity will
save them from the Hell Fire. Is it worthwhile ignoring
something so important by not verifying the correctness of
its meaning by using one’s common sense? According
to the Reading, ‘the worst creatures at the sight of God are
those who do not use their common sense’.
Is it not time yet for sensible Muslims to come to
their senses and seek forgiveness and mercy from their Lord
while they still can? Is it so difficult for them to be sincere
to Him alone in pursuing His grace and pleasure? These
are some of the fundamental questions the non-Arabs
should be considered seriously.
The religionists have, indeed, twisted the meaning of
many words in the Reading to divert mankind from the path
of God including wa-roka’is-sujud in 2:125 which simply
means those who humble themselves consentingly.
The message in 2:125 is that Abraham was directed to
the system and had diligently committed himself to devote
and humble himself with consent to the will of God in the
system. His son Ishmael was similarly committed, and both
of them cleansed the system for throngs of people who are
devoted and also those who humble themselves

consentingly to the same system. Abraham and Ishmael were not devoting themselves to a physical house, nor have they circumambulated or bowed and prostrate physically to some rocks. Those who follow the footsteps of Abraham are not expected to bow or prostrate to anything. They should devote and humble themselves by consenting themselves to the same system by upholding their commitments to observe the deen prescribed by God. That is all that is meant.

No where in Islam it is said to worship Kaaba. Kaba is sacred because in kaba direction Muslims pray.
Just like Muslims have the Kaaba in Mecca as their most sacred place, Jews have the Western Wall in Jerusalem as their most sacred site. Both religions do not worship idols. Muslims pray to Allah facing the Kaaba, while Jews pray to God facing the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This shows the shared principle of worshiping a single, God in both Islam and Judaism.

What Ibrahim and Ismaeel never been to Mecca?

Even in Jewish tradition, Ishmael is recognized as the ancestor of the Arabs. This shows the historical and spiritual connections between the Arabs and Ishmael. Search about Ishmael on YouTube in the jews scholars video. All the Christians and Jews believe that the Arabs are the descendents of Hazrat Ismail.

I think this is a more sensible and closely related to the Quran explanation of the Hajj, if you watch from 34:00 onwards. I'll just write a couple of things he has discussed. Like Muqam Ibrahim does not mean his footsteps but rather station, since Ibrahim and his family had moved/stationed there. So muqam Ibrahim makes more sense as his place of residence rather than those alleged footprints or any one particular spot.

Like even in Urdu we say yeh banda Karachi mein muqeem hai, similar Hazrat Ibrahim Mecca mein muqeem thay i.e Muqam Ibrahim.

Hajj is never mentioned as an obligation i.e fard for anyone and since you actually cannot even enter it, its pretty much pointless going there anyways. And Tawaf does not mean to "circumambulate" anti clockwise 7 times no such thing in the Quran, it just means to go around, like you go around and have a look when you visit any place, the examples he gives that of a museum, when you visit a museum you go around it a look and learn interesting things.

Its a bit long but even 10 15minutes from 34.00 onwards should be ok to get the jist of it.

Wrong analogy as both are committing Shirk. Where does it say in the Qur'an to face the Kaaba for praying?

No where in Islam it is said to worship Kaaba.
By bowing to it means you are worshipping a building.
It has been revealed to you and those before you, that if you fall into idol-worship,
all your deeds will be nullified and you will be a loser. Therefore, you shall serve
God alone and be thankful. (39:65-66)
God never forgives the idolization of anything besides Him, and He forgives all
lesser offenses for whomever He wills. Anyone who sets up any idol besides God

has forged a gross blasphemy. (4:48)

What is Hajj? The literal meaning of Hajj is to debate or argue. All the Hajj verses in the Quran point to mankind, not Muslims or believers. This means that Hajj is for everyone. Nowhere in the Quran has Allah commanded mankind to circumambulate seven times around the four-walled building known as the Kaaba, or to kiss the Black Stone (there is no mention of the black stone in the Quran), or to run between the two stone hills seven times, or to throw stones at the symbolic three concrete devils (Shaytans), or to wear the Ihram garment exposing one shoulder, etc.
Can someone explain how individuals benefit from doing all of this? Isn't it a form of Shirk?
