In the pursuit of a truly democratic society, it is imperative that we address the troubling presence of military forces within our major cities. The military's encroachment into civilian spaces has created a dangerous dynamic, where armed forces use the very citizens they are meant to protect as human shields. By situating their bases near critical infrastructure, such as airports , city centers and major roads, military leaders are prioritizing their own safety over the well-being of the populace. This cowardice, as acknowledged by military generals , reflects a systemic failure within the leadership that prioritizes war and conflict over peace and stability. To foster a society that is financially and socially viable, we must shift our focus away from a security state mentality.
Instead of viewing our nation through the lens of fear and militarization, we should promote a vision of democracy that emphasizes social justice, economic opportunity, and the protection of civil liberties. When they attempt to arrest a single civilian, they descend upon them like a pack of hounds, 30 strong, highlighting their cowardice and unfitness to serve the nation. Current crop of generals, who have shown little difference in their approach to governance and military strategy, must be replaced. We need a complete overhaul of our military leadership hierarchy, from the top down, to ensure that those who serve are truly committed to serving the nation, not just their own interests. The band of generals who have held our country hostage for far too long must be replaced with a new generation of leaders who are committed to upholding the values of democracy and human rights.
