Just wanted to ask all PTI Tigers (KIA YE KHULLA TAZAAD NHI) Blaming other political party about their hypocracy (Munafiqat) is very easy.
ISLAMABAD: Would you believe that business tycoon Humayun Akhtar is just a Rs 20m-man and Nasir Khan is shelter less? Those doubting this should better peruse the declarations filed by all the ministers in the Shaukat Aziz cabinet.
Notified by the Election Commission of Pakistan, these declarations seem to be a piece of comic literature. Majority, if not all the federal ministers, has no idea of their assets and their present worth.
Khrshid Mehmood Kasuri has declared owning a house in Lahore worth Rs 388m. If not a slip of the pen, this is perhaps the highest priced house in the whole of Pakistan. Interestingly the price of the same house declared last year was only Rs 30m. Prices of real estate have certainly not rocketed about 13-fold. Therefore it can be safely assumed that while filing the latest declaration either the pen of Kasuri had slipped or he was hard pressed in his official commitments. Incidentally through this ‘comic error’, with assets worth awesome figure of Rs 750m, Kasuri has emerged as the richest member of the cabinet, leaving behind even Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
On the other hand Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar who owns sugar mills and leads the country’s beverage industry, has assets worth only Rs 20m and also has no car of his own. Another tycoon Jehangir Tareen, who happens to be a cousin of Humayun Akhtar, has this year declared his assets worth Rs 119m with Rs200m belonging to his wife and three daughters. According to his declaration filed last year his and his son’s share in JDW Sugar Mills stood at Rs 65m which has jumped to Rs 130m this year.
In spite of his reputation of one who thrashes people in public, Law Minister Wasi Zafar did not declare any weapon in his possession. In 2004 he had a car which seems to be no more with him. His assets generally remain the same and also have the same value as in 2004 except a Lahore plot the value of which has appreciated by Rs 500.
Sheikh Rashid has declared to have a pistol and a gun. According to his declaration he has a very simple living and owns furniture, fittings and articles (FFA) of personal use worth Rs 25,000. Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat seems to have saved some money as compared to 2004.
Senior minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal owns a tractor but not a car. Amanullah Khan Jadoon has a few millions in savings as compared to the 2004. Maj (r) Tahir Iqbal has invested more in real estate and also saved more but without explaining the source of income.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan’s previous assets remain intact with no change in value. However he invested Rs 3m more in his business, purchased a car costing Rs 4.5m in addition to the two cars he already owns. His savings in bank have increased by Rs 1.6m as compared to 2004.
Awais Leghari is going in loss and the conspicuous miss in his present declaration is property worth Rs 60m declared in 2004. Ejazul Haq, son of former military ruler General Ziaul Haq, too does not have to show much. His financial situation is such that he does not even own a car.
Health Minister Nasir Khan is one of the few ministers who are without a shelter. He claims to possess neither a house nor a car. However, his daughter has more assets than her parents. Syed Safwanullah, who is responsible for providing housing to the masses, too has no house of his own.
Shamim Haider Khan is the only minister who has declared to have a Mercedes car. But the limousine’s value is too low. Nouraiz Shakoor’s property is stagnant neither going up nor coming down. Liaqat Ali Jatoi, a Sindhi vadera has declared assests worth only Rs 7m.
Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind owns the maximum agri-land and a number of houses including a bungalow and fort villa but their value is declared to be very small. Rindh, however, is the only minister who admits having a fleet of vehicles including two bulletproof four wheelers. Rindh’s sister in law and his cabinet colleague Sumera Malik’s wealth statement is hardly different from the previous one but she showed appreciation of the value of assets of her hubby of the DMG.
Strangely while the property price is going up everywhere Zubaida Jalal’s ancestral flat value has come down from Rs 6 million in 2004 to Rs 2 m in 2005. She has also lost one of the three cars she earlier had. Ch Shahbaz is the only minister who has made investment in Saudi Arabia.
