It's not. Campaign time can be decreased according to two weeks according to election commission themselves.New election date for Punjab can be adjusted to some days later.Election schedule is part of an act which can be adjusted to meet the requirements but constitution can't be.

Perhaps you are correct, but the election commission requires at least 54 days prior to the start of elections.

Judgement allows scope for barest minimum deviation. PDM hopes of delaying elections to after summer look to be almost finished....at least legally that is.

“The Election Commission is therefore directed to use its utmost efforts to immediately propose, keeping in mind [sections] 57 and 58 of the Election Act 2017, a date to the president that is compliant with the aforesaid deadline. If such a course is not available, then the ECP shall in like manner propose a date for the holding of the poll that deviates to the barest minimum from the aforesaid deadline . After consultation with the ECP, the president shall announce a date for the holding of the general election to the Punjab Assembly.”

IMO, It's better to choose a date and conduct all the elections on that date.We are starring at default.A weak government is a recipe for disaster.

Not a weak government issue, but the prolonged political crisis brought on by the actions of both the opposition and the government is more to blame.

it may or it may not. I believe ECP are going to consult with President and KP gov tomorrow? Let us see....

Point is, it may pass by a few days, couple of weeks, but the option of delaying till after summer seems to be shut down.

Personally I think having it after Ramzan will give higher turnout, so maybe that should be considered.

None of the judges objected to elections within ninety days. They objected to Suo moto. Appended notes of judges who were not a part of the bench are not effectively part of the judgment that concluded the Suo motion
