US senate is democratically elected.Pakistani elections are never fair and free.The army rigs elections in favour of whichever party it favours.The majority of Pakistani MNAs and senators have a criminal background.US has a presidential system.They have given the president the power to appoint judges.The Senate confirms the appointment by majority of votes.US judges are conservative or liberal.They don’t have political affiliations like Pakistani judges.The president appoints the judges but the same judges give rulings against the president and he had to accept them.In the past Nawaz and Benazir selected their own judges who gave decisions in their favour.The system became a mess so they decided to appoint the most senior judge as CJ.They have gone back to the same system of 1990s.In future judges will be selected by political parties.They will select their own CJ.The judiciary is no longer independent.The British system is very good.They have an independent judicial appointments commission which consists of judges,senior lawyers,laymen and clergy.The commission selects judges on merit.
