Covid is a poor execuse. In fact loans were put on hold for 1.5 years which was biggest advantage. Imagine you don't have to pay loans for 1.5 years; this will be a comfortable position for any government as one third of budget goes to re-pay old loans. Covid caused problems for common man not government. When Nawaz started government in 2013, it was 18 hours load shedding and atleast one bomb blast every week. These were bigger excuses but PMLN never used them as an excuse instead they resolve both these issues before end of their term. They started CPEC which Khan put on back burner. These three are biggest achievement. In addition to that thousands of kilometer motorways, two metro bus, one metro train, universities, hospitals and many more. Khan has only health card which was only premimum paid by government. Khan government took 73% of entire 70% loan by Pakistan and where did that money go?
You cannot take credit for Load shedding and terror outfits... those terror outfits were taken care of by army after the Peshawar APS disaster which also happened during Nawaz tenure, do you take ownership?
Nawaz Govt was lucky that China started CPEC at same time and dollars flowed in which Dar used to keep Rupees/$ value in tight range. Despite charges of slowing down CPEC, Chinese minister has said on record that there was no slow down during PTI tenure and all projects were worked upon. Many of the roads started earlier, were completed and unlike PPP which stopped all Nawaz projects in previous Govts.
Secondly, the Load shedding issue is basically a capacity issue, Pak already had capacity to make enough electricity but due to revolving dieficit, where the power houses were not paid enough and so they were not producing to thier full capacity.
Nawaz took office and one go paid 500 billion rupees to power sector , which eased thier finances and they could now purchase furnace oil fully.
However, do you take ownership for the costly agreements Nawaz and zardari Govts made with these power houses IPPs. to pay them in dollars and also to pay for capcity payments, those agreements are what are driving the cost of electricty and the country is suffering.
If Covid brought debt relief then there are ways to deal with it, which PTI was able to deal with and Pak economy emerged third in world ranking after singapore. All this is on record.
The financial condition of country as was left in 2018 , there was no way to run it except taking loans to run it. But PTI was turning things around, record tax collection.. all on record, ... record incoming remittances ... and increase in exports and agriculutre ... till April 2022.
If PTI took huge loans, PDM took double loans in 16 months, they should answer more about it.
