آپ بہت جوش و خروش کے ساتھ کئی سال لندن میں رہنے کے بعد اس وعدے اور یقین دہانی پر اس سال پاکستان پہنچے تھے کہ آپ کو وزیراعظم پاکستان بنایا جائے گا۔ اسی وجہ سے آپ کو 8 فروری 2024 کے عام انتخابات میں فارم 47 کے تحت جتوایا بھی گیا مگر افسوس کہ ساری امیدیں زمیں بوس ہوگئیں اور بالآخر آپ کو ایک مرتبہ پھر ملک چھوڑنا پڑا۔
آپ جس جہاز سے لندن کے لئے پاکستان سے روانہ ہوئے اس جہاز میں مرزا غالب کی ایک مشہور غزل کا یہ شعر مسلسل گونج رہا تھا کہ !

نکلنا خلد سے آدم کا سنتے آئے ہیں لیکن
بہت بے آبرو ہو کر ترے کوچے سے ہم نکلے
