6 Punjab baboos refuse to brief Governor on flood rehab
Six top bureaucrats of Punjab have refused to brief Governor on flood relief.
The officers who didn’t show up on being called by Governor Latif Khosa included five secretaries.
The governor had called them under Article 131 of the Constitution to brief him about the steps taken thus far in the light of the Flood Commission’s recommendations.
Addressing a news conference, angry Khosa said that the Supreme Court should take suo moto notice of non-implementation of the Flood Commission’s recommendations.
The governor also took a swipe at the PML-N leadership, saying the people were facing problems while the CM (Shahbaz Sharif) was “enjoying a visit to the United Kingdom”.
He said a summary had been sent to the federal government for action against disobedient officers -- Home Secretary Shahid Khan, Irrigation Secretary Irfan Elahi, Health Secretary Jehanzaib, Secretary Anjum Salman, Additional Agriculture Secretary Dr Anjum and Disaster Management DG Khalid Sher Dil.
