Sir After Mujahideen won and USSR took its army out of Afghanistan. The Govt was formed in Afghanistan under Burhaan Ud-Deen Rubbani. Then we Pakistanis Vissibally took us out of Afghanistan. Thinking that they will settle their issues. Like all Afghani Leaders. This Idiot turned against us and Got involved in the criminal activities against Pakistan.

Until one of his criminals groups hijacked one school bus of children in Islamabad. SSG Sharp shooters killed them all and freed the children unharmed. In retaliation, Burhan Ud deen's paid group attacked Pakistani High commission in Qabul and fatally injured few people there. Our Chief High commissioner was airlifted in critical condition and stayed in Intensive care for quite some days. That was the time when Banazeer Govt and Army said enough is enough. We made Talibaan to Take over Afghanistan again.
Between this period ISI had no visible role in Afghanistan. And Your Hero Hameed Gul's two years, unfortunately, sits in that period of Inactivity.

Suhail Paa ji you are histrically wrong here. Pakistan or ISI never supported Ahmed Shah Masood. We never had any animosity with him but Northern Alliance used to hate us most. Instead, our Army always supported Hikmatyar and the Pashtoon factor was the main reason for this. We had our own Pashtoon areas interests to safeguard. So Hikmatyar was and always remained our guy.
And the orignal Talibaan was hikmatyar's redundant Army, when he left and settled in Iran after getting fed up with Idiot Burhan Udden Rabbani.

And for forming Taliban, yes it was the ISI but Hameed Gul had nothing to do with. You are fed with this halwa that Hameed Gul was the focal point.

2: Gulbadeen did not form Govt. He became interior minister for very limited time then he resigned and left Afghanistan.
3: Burhaud Deen when made Govt, he did not go to USSR and shredded it like a mouse. The Economical collapse of USSR was the reason when some states were able to declare independence. Other than Geroigia, most of the states were Muslim and connected with Afghanistan, which Soviet Union itself wanted to get rid off. Still, Russia is the biggest country in the world.

Raja Sahib, state policies and operations are like "Relay Races".... it does not matter who crosses the finish line. The ones who carried the relay in between certainly have something to share out of this victory.

Certainly, he did achieve something during his tenure in MI, for which he was then inducted to ISI as Chief.

Furthermore, it is a multifarious job to account for. How would you gauge his performance? Perhaps he foiled many attacks on Pakistan before they could even be launched..... perhaps he leveraged Pakistan somewhere, where others could not....

In these jobs, many of the secrets just go with the person to his grave.
