The crackdown on the Pashtun Aman Jirga, and the banning of PTM at this point are both inexplicable. They are a test for every party, and for every individual voice that can be heard. The last two years of crackdown on PTI have shown us that there is much that the state and all of us that have been part of the state have to answer for, and to course correct.Every problem is not a nail and the answer to every problem is not a hammer. Regardless of what the government and state narrative and their propagandists say, history shows us that the answer to those feeling politically alienated is not to alienate them further. If we are doing something wrong, we should have the courage to call it out.No Pakistani patriot will support anyone who dares to talk of breaking Pakistan. We will stand like a rock for this country. But let us give people a chance to vent their hurt and to solve it for them. Believe me, we know. Moreover, with the use of the draconian 144 and 3MPO rules against us, we must draw the line at its use against others. As many election results can be forged as desired and as many constitutional amendments can be bulldozed, none of this will solve anything.Too much of how we are run as a country has been exposed. Too much of how weak the moral fibre of our decision makers, us included, has been exposed. The only good that can come of this crisis is if we have the courage to say the truth and to take a stand on it.It is laughable if we tear gas those weaker than us after facing the same ourselves. It is also laughable that the KP police leadership, or the administrative leadership, or all of us, or the mainstream opposition, does not have the courage to voice what's right. This specific instance is a test for the KP government. I am confident and hopeful they will pass it.
