Breaking News: Overseas Pakistanis given voting right

You see how Pakistanis are made fool of. They had months to pass this legislation but waited 2 days before the elections so overseas Pakistanis cannot vote in this elections, which could have resulted IK winning around 10 to 20 additional seats.:angry_smile:

President promulgates ordinance for voting right to expats



ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardrai has promulgated an ordinance, allowing over six million overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes, Geo News reported.



However, the Pakistani expatriates would not be able to use their right of franchise in May 11 polls. Interim law minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi told Geo News that the ordinance was issued as per the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the ordinance, the overseas Pakistanis would have to get themselves registered with the Pakistani embassy in their respective countries.
President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Electoral Laws amendment ordinance 2013. According to the ordinance, polling stations would be setup within the premises of Pakistani embassies abroad.

Can somebody advise about the possibilities of taking this concern to the highest court of Pakistan to request them to conduct polls for overseas after the general elections?

On the grounds that there was a possibility of getting this done b4 elections which has been delayed on purpose to deny us this right. or any other ground deemed even more relevant and concrete.

And that these votes instead being considered for different native constituencies back in Pakistan, rather be considered for one central Ministry of Overseas Pakistani. This might solve problem for them that these additional votes might not affect any situation of the existing constituencies then..


If yes, can this be initiated by the office-bearer of PTI UK & USA chapters backed by almost all of us living here?

What acha kaam yar? Even if this news is true, this is too little too late. There are no procedures in place for 11th May election. Still no vote for overseas Pakis. This is delayed deliberately.
