British High Commissioner Adam Thomson took notice of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s statements of “separating Karachi” on Wednesday, reported Express News.



Thousands of complaints were sent to the London metropolitan police after Altaf addressed his supporters in Karachi where he allegedly threatened PTI supporters who were protesting against rigging.



Altaf also said that Karachi should be separated from Pakistan if the mandate given to the MQM by the people is not acceptable.



The statements created an uproar across the country, after which the party clarified saying Altaf’s statements were rhetorical, and misinterpreted by the media.



Thomson said that the London police are looking into the complaints and may take notice of it soon.



On Tuesday, reports emerged of Altaf being unwell. Doctors advised him to pause all political activity for a few days and take bed rest.

لندن (مانیٹرنگ ڈیسک) برطانوی ہائی کمشنر ایڈم تھامسن نے کہا ہے کہ پاکستان کو الطاف حسین کے کراچی توڑنے کے بیان کو سنجیدگی سے لینا چاہئے۔ پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ برطانیہ میں نفرت اور تشدد پھیلانے کے خلاف سخت قوانین ہیں، اگر کسی پر جرم ثابت ہو جائے تو اسے جیل کی سزا ہو سکتی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان کو الطاف حسین کے بیان سنجیدگی سے لینا چاہئے، الطاف حسین کے بیان پر برطانوی پولیس کو پاکستانی اور برطانوی شہریوں کی جانب سے بے تحاشہ شکایات ملی ہیں جس پر پولیس تحقیقات کر رہی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ انتخابات سے متعلق یورپی یونین کے مبصروں کی رپورٹ کی تصدیق کرتے ہیں، 11 مئی کے انتخابات غلطیوں سے سو فیصد پاک نہیں تھے تاہم مجموعی طور پر یہ پاکستان کی تاریخ کے سب سے بہترین انتخابات تھے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ان انتخابات کے ذریعے شہریوں نے حکومتوں کا احتساب کیا ہے۔ ایڈم تھامسن نے کہا کہ انتخابات میں دھاندلی کے الزامات کی تحقیقات ہونی چاہئیں۔

LONDON: British High Commissioner (HC), Adam Thomson has said that UK police have received countless complaints against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s remarks about detaching Karachi from Pakistan, Geo News reported.
In a statement, the British HC said Pakistan should take serious notice of Altaf Hussain’s statement.
He further said that strict laws are followed in Britain against hate speech and spreading violence, adding the UK police is currently investigating Altaf’s speech.
He added that if anyone is found guilty, the accused can face imprisonment.
