Point to be noted is that the Western route(Through KPK) is 2674 KM while the Eastern route(Through punjab) is 2781 KM. Which shows not much difference, but the Western Route directly goes to Gawadar, while the Eastern road goes to Karachi and then you will have to go through Coastal Highway to Gawadar which is further 681 KM. So in total the Eastern route to Gawadar from China is like 800 KM longer than Western route.

I just talked about the Distance. And didn't talk about the economic and safety effects which is another issue. I mean 800 KM difference for big vehicles could save like 1-2 days time and like 10,000 Rupees or more worth of fuel for each truck, now multiply this amount to at least 5000 trucks each day. its like 5 Crore rupees saving for all of them plus 1 to 2 days saving as well. Now note that this 5 crore is just an estimated amount and it could be higher than this, which could perhaps be spent by our Government for more better roads and facilities in the areas of this route for its improvement and safety in the long run.

Now of course the route going through Punjab has other benefits, such as if there is imports from gawadar to punjab then the western route for them will be the longest so the eastern route will be a blessing in diguise for such trade. Similarly if somone would want to go from karachi to Punjab and Punjab to karachi then this route will be beneficial to the masses etc etc..
