****** PMs wife gets Rs38m bank loan written off ***

The monetary benefit availed by Fauzia Gilanis firm is in clear contrast with what the prime minister had claimed in the National Assembly that he and his wife never sought any waiver in bank loans
.

SLAMABAD: The wife of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is one of the main beneficiaries of the recent loan write-off policy of the National Bank of Pakistan. The bank waived a loan of over Rs 38 million taken by Pak Green Fertiliser Limited (PGFL) which she owned as one of its main partners.

According to NBPs annual report of 2009 and its advertisement published in newspapers on April 1, the bank wrote off the PGFL loan last year.

The prime ministers press secretary Shabbir Anwar told Dawn that Mrs Gilani had nothing to do with the wavier as she had left the firm in 2007 and the loan was written off in 2009.

The monetary benefit availed by Fauzia Gilanis firm is in clear contrast with what the prime minister had claimed in the National Assembly that he and his wife never sought any waiver in bank loans.

The NBP has written off a total of Rs 638.461 million loans of 28 different firms, including the one owned by the prime ministers wife. The Supreme Court had taken strict notice of writing off of bank loans taken by politicians and bureaucrats and directed the National Accountability Bureau to take action against those who had availed undue benefits in this regard.

According to the NBP, an amount of Rs 38.891 million was settled on the instructions of the Sindh High Court and under State Banks rules. But later even the settled amount was written off by the bank.

As per the directives of the SHC the account of Pak Green Fertiliser Ltd was settled by the NBP under SBP Circular 29 of Oct 15, 2002. In line with the high courts directives, the NBP settled the account in Oct 2006, and accordingly the settled amount was shared between ZTBL (main lender 89.76 per cent) and NBP (10.23 per cent), the NBP said.

According to the NBPs annual report, PGFL is owned by Ziaur Rehman, Khalid Hassain Chaudhry, Fauzia Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chaudhry Munawwar Hussain, Anwar Nasreen Gilani, Syeda Samina Ibrar and Naseem Akhtar.

It could not be ascertained whether or not two separate loans obtained by Mrs Gilanis two firms from ZTBL have also been written off.

However, the banks annual report and the advertisement have clearly mentioned the name of Mrs Gilani.

According to the document and media reports, two firms of Mrs Gilani obtained two separate loans of Rs200 million from ZTBL. The loan amount with interest surged to Rs570 million because of default on payment for over a decade. However, she got the case settled by giving only Rs45.521 million.

CJ will never take suo moto against corrupt politician because he is also corrupt.

These are all beghairat (??????). [nawaz] [shahbaz sharif] [altaf] [maulana fazl ur rehman] [zardari] and Cheif Justice Iftekhar Chaudri. They all must be hanged in public. They are so dheet (????) that they are keeping on supporting corrupt personalities whose crimes are now public. They have no shame in their eyes as if they have pig's hair in their eyes.

Do hell with this Jhamoriat (???????). Marshal Law is far better than this Khabees Jhamhoriat (???????). Their may be some corrupt Generals in Pak Army but as a whole Pak Army mostly patriotic and is least corrupt...After hanging above Saitans, Army should do a country wide operation clean up. It might take few years then Army may restore Jhamoriat (???????), when the system in place, so that nobody can make joke of Jhamoriat (???????) in future.

bhai jaan, Martial Law IS what has brought Pakistan to this chaos. If we had khilfat which qaid had wanted in 1947, we wouldnt have this weak Pakistan. he wanted to stay away from the riba system. But shaitan won and Jinnah passed away.

These politicians are'nt beghairat, the Pakistani people are beghairat they voted for their true representatives. CJ have gone thru hell in the past, problem is their job is only to uphold the constitution and interpret it in order to provide justice to people, CJ cannot legislate[this is parliament's responsibility who are voted by the people] nor he has the rite to interfere in administration which is also a responsibility of the executive[which is also voted by the people] when CJ put rs.40 he was criticised by the govt. for interference. Instead of looking to Supreme court People should go ask their 'representatives' like Nawaz Sharif who by 'co-incidence' is a sugar mill owner[and also his party runs Punjab govt. in coalition with Peoples party] as well to give relief to people.
Altaf Hussain has not been voted once in Punjab and Sindh at least judge his party by the the people like Mustafa Kamal and what he has done for the city. In Pakistan one needs to understand on which basis Pakistanis vote for these parties. In rest of Pakistan A political party has to earn our vote thru their performance what their working background is whereas the others judge political party thru their family background and their proximity to centres of power like the army or bureaucracy like Nawaz league. Or harness cleverly exploit people's resentment of the govt. or a particular province or particular community and which they perceive are doing better than them and play provincialism card very well to keep a lid on their performance like ANP and Peoples Party. Pakistani voters should vote responsibly.
