Maximum number of casualties because of the military's intense and indiscriminate firing on unarmed protesters occurred between D-Chowk and Kulsoom Hospital, from where all the remaining protesters ran for their lives, leaving behind the injured and the dead. This specific area was sealed off while the operation commenced in the darkness of the night with the electricity and mobile signals turned off. The bodies were taken by the military's 111 Brigade, stripped of their clothes, and buried in mass graves, concealing the actual number of those killed.

The public only knows the number of bodies that reached the hospital because they were brought there by their companions. According to eyewitnesses in the military, anybody who fell between D-Chowk and Kulsoom Hospital was loaded into military trucks, and the injured were shot dead to prevent them from testifying.
